Hey ya Just Commodorians
I am adding a few extra genuine holden buttons into my center dash just under the power window buttons. Where would be easiest/best to pinch power to make the illumination on these work? I could just use the 12v acc but then it would be on all the time..hmm..ideas?
Thanks!
I haven't done anything with my VY switches so I'm only guessing, although I've done a fair bit of auto wiring in years gone by, but try finding out which wire/s supply lighting power to the power window switches (use a multi meter and see which wire livens up when you turn the lights on) and hook into this/these, that way the new ones are illuminated only when the lights are on.
Or maybe pm Phreddy, he's the god of Vy wiring systems.![]()
Cheers. Don't suppose you know how to remove the power window surround and switches? I haven't done it before and do not want to damage it at all.
remove screw to the right hand side under the pop down lid compartment,
open the centre console bin, use a flat blade screw driver prise the facia upwards in the 2 notches, run along the sides of the facia and un-clip those,
then pull up and slide upwards and outwards to clear the radio sourround facia area,
unplug all associated wiring

Put a spade turnimal on a wire and run it back along the console and hook into your switch.
All done in about 5-10 minutes!.

Do you know if the bulb in the switch takes 12v? Could i hook up the 12v line to one side, and the other side straight to a ground? Pretty sure thats how it works![]()
I think that you don't have to earth them for memory just the 1 wire for power. And yes they are a 12v bulb so no worries there.
