    Default New S owner

bought a 03 VY from the auction for 3.6k. Hit not that bad only 100k on the clock just got a few questions -

Im a P plater so cant get a SS or turbo so i want to make this look like a SS with SS badges etc do you think thats silly?

What exact mods can you do to it to get more KW out of it and can someone give me a price of what i expect to pay?

Why does it have traction control if its jsut a 6?

    Cheers

if you make it look like an ss that would be ok. just dont try to to traffic light battle with them because you'll get laughed at.

id get cold air intake and exhaust (but doin the zorst will advertise there is no LS1 under your bonnet, id stick with S badges.)

no badges is the way to go IMO, if its gettin sprayed and panel beated get em to fill the boot holes.

    Mate just de-badge entirely!
Exhaust, extractors & some higher ratio roller-rockers and you'll be laughing.

Traction control keeps us from losing traction. Even 6 and 4 cylinders lose traction mate. Check my car for a look at a VY S.

An S has already pretty much got an SS kit anyway - bar the headlights and the rear wing.

Get the SS bits and you might get laughed at a bit. Get the the SS badges and you'll REALLY get paid out. Don't try and make your car look like something it's not - that's just embarassing.

I agree with the above post. Don't try putting SS badge on because its not an SS.

BUT do get the ss kits or what ever to make it look like an SS but don't drag with a V8 at the lights.

Sounds like you got a good buy Joey.

I have to agree with most other posters though - don't throw SS badges on a non-SS. Kitting is fine, and will even get the odd compliment, but up-badging is just rice!

that maybe so, but your tool factor is high. You dont need a car to pull girls man.

Just kidding - but don't make your car into something it's not! - all you will get is the extra attention from the cops when they see p plates on an 'ss' and decide to pull you over! and you're helping the problem of "ricer glorification" - whereby ricers in stupid integras brag all about how they beat an 'ss' at the lights, or a 'clubsport' - which are infact v6 commos re-badged

A VY S pack is a nice respectable car for a P plater - chuck some pimpin' wheels on there and lower it... then enjoy the fact you've got traction control and aren't wasting cash on tyres Keep it clean and sharp looking, then when you can drive and afford a real SS - go get one!

ahahah cheers for the replys fellas glad to of foudn thiso forum! To be honest i am a mad ford man i wanted a xr6turbo big time but i found out that when cops do rego checks it shows its a turbo so that was out of the question even if i debadged that. The cops will see the SS badges do a check and see its all sweet.

In regards to "Exhaust, extractors & some higher ratio roller-rockers and you'll be laughing." how much would i be looking at? also do i just take it to any mechanic shop to do that or there is specialist shops in syd that do that stuff? sorry bit of a noob quest

    thanks guys

Cant wait to get the baby on the road.
