    Default VY Cluby fuel usage

    Hi,

A friend of mine owns a VY Clubsport R8 (260kw) Series 1. He was wondering what other VY Cluby owners were getting in the way of fuel comsumption in city and highway conditions.

So if anyone has such figures please post 'em up.

    Cheers,

    Matt

You will be looking anywhere between 15-21L per 100km city, and abour 8-11L/100km highway. All depends on how you drive.

I drive with a little bit of spirit at times. Average speed is currently 42.8 with the average of 11.3.

adam, with those figures your quoting I would have to drive around with my foot flat to the floor 24/7. Only way you will get those figures is if you are running untuned

It all depends on your conditions. You can't compare a car that does mainly highway k's with a car that is always stuck in traffic. My car is tuned and I get around 8 t0 9L on the highway, but in seriously heavy stop start traffic, that I drive in everyday, it sits at 17 or 18L.

These threads always end up the same, but unless you are driving a tuned car in the same conditions as the untuned car, there is no real comparison.

I just filled my car up yesterday, and it worked out my average fuel was about 20.6L/100km (my display said about 21.6 so it is wrong)... the lowest i have gotton is around the 17L/100 mark for city driving (well with a bit of freeway).
I think being a manual i tend to give it a bit more, so that could be the reason for the higher consumption, but yes it think it could use a tune too.

Its all in the tune. I do mostly city kays and mine sits at between 11-12/100. Untuned it would sit in the 17-18 bracket.

Did you notice a performance gain after the tune?

You guys are getting nice figures.. i really gotta get a tune then aye...

    i do about 400kms a week
if i can save about 5L/100 then thats 20L per week
    over 52 weeks is 1040L
    1040L at 1.60 a litre is $1664

well worth getting a tune.. will have to wait till i have the cash for exhaust, extractors, otr and tune

considering my car is standard the tune only netted me an extra 15kw peak, but performance and economy has been improved over the entire rev range (everyone knows its area under the curve these days). tune is well worth the money, but get a otrcai and cat back at the same time will give even more gains.

also need to be aware of differences if your driving auto or manual, and diff ratios, they will affect the fuel economy.

Not sure how an average speed below 50 states its mainly highway driving. On the highway I average around 8.1. Even in stop start traffic my average doesnt go over 12-13.

Well guys good news, after reading this thread i got real itchy feet and went out and booked my car in for an exhaust setup.

    2 x Mangaflow steel cats = $360
    Pacemaker Tri-Y's = $550
    Install = $300
Also i'm not sure but do i need a wiring loom... they said about $100 for the loom... my car is a VY SS Series 1.
Edit: from pacemaker site.. VY Series II and VZ require Oxy Sensor Wiring Loom Extensions. Guess i don't then.

Great prices i reckon, but i could be wrong. Goes in next week, will let you know how it goes.

I also got them to check my current catback system (it came with the car so i don't know what it is)... and they reckon its a 2.25" twin. I might leave this on for the time being until i have the cash for a redback 2.5", which they do for a bout $600 fitted.

We're not really... but if we can reduce consumption from 19L to 12L per 100km and get more power, then why not...
