    Default stereo acting weird

hi guys, just cruisin around on the weekend and my strereo switches started playin up, the car has sorted itself out somehow but just wondering if anyone has had it happen to them before and how they fixed it.

basically all functions on the steering wheel worked except the volume down - pressing the volume down would turn the volume up, and everything else was fine so id use the wheel (either up or down) to crank it and have to turn the stereo dial to turn it down. i found it a bit weird thats all.

This is a very common and well documented issue with VY's. Holden were replacing the steering wheel switches under warranty. I had mine done under warranty and haven't had a problem since. The switches feel much nicer to use too!

I'd say you're out of warranty, so it's about $120 for Holden to fix it for you, or you can buy the switches and do it yourself. Do a search, a member here has done this himself for about $40-$50 from memory.

cheers, i didnt know that this was the steering wheel problem, i thought it was switches ceasing to work and falling off etc.

i'll look into it, i can get the switches for trade and have a crack at it myself.

just remember to disconnect the battery and leave it for atleast 20 seconds before disconnecting the airbag so it doesnt set a code that you ahve to go to an auto elec or holden to clear
