vy acclaim hard to change manual climate to electric climate???
feel bad posting two threads str8 after i signed up but wanted to know this since i got the vy how much work is involved in converting manual climate to full electric climate was told wires are in the dash for it but cant see that being true
anyone done this job before. This is a mod i would love to do just for the looks of it dont like the look of all the dials as im sure most of you would agree
and before you say it "why didnt you just buy a berlina or calais" couldnt find one in black when i was looking went all over adelaide could only find 3 black vy an s pack the one i bought and an executive (which was more expensive than the acclaim with more k's) and lets face it who wants the base modle
car is vy acclaim series 2

Unless you're looking to *really* get your hands dirty, don't bother...you're best of upgrading to a Berlina or Calais.
Basically, for a start, the entire dash has to come out (BIG job), as IIRC you'll need to change the heater box over to a climate control version. Secondly, you'll also need to replace your Acclaim's Level 2 wiring loom with a Level 3 Berlina/Calais wiring loom, which basically requires the entire car to come apart, and all the wiring to be removed.
Yes, it is doable, but its a big, big, big job. Definitely something to go into only with your eyes wide open. Otherwise you're best off either sticking with what you've got, or just trading the Acclaim in for a Berlina or Calais.

A loom and HVAC box would be the go (same as doing it in VN-VS).
I have never pulled a VY apart, but if its much like my dads VT its really no harder than the earlier models to change the loom with exceptions to the airbags (im not sure what needs to be done there). Just make sure its as close to your build date as possible.
Could probably be done for under $300 depending on how much you can get parts for. Could take 3-4 days though.

Given that you will be diving into the electrical guts of the car by stripping out the dash to do it yourself, it's a job you wouldn't want to even think about without good quality wiring diagrams. And we all know how hard it is to get a hold of those (Thanks, General!)
If you really have to do it, you need to obtain the complete climate control unit, wiring looms, heater core. evaporator, the lot, because there is a chance that many of the parts will differ from your standard unit and it would be much simpler to swap the whole assembly over, rather than fiddle about trying to adapt.

Auto elecs are quite useless, I rang heaps and none could (or were willing to) do it on my VN and in terms of patching into the loom, it would be much easier on a VN so i'd say no luck on a VY.
It is easier to change the loom than patch into anyway, and they'd be more inclined to take that offer. Plus they'd charge you a minimum of 12 hours labour i'd say (even though it shouldn't take them anywhere near that).

Hi Tyrone to climate control or not
Climate control units and dash fascia from ebay about $150, the wreckers want $250 for Climate control compatable Heater boxes (complete???), wiring I'm not sure about but the manuals show differences and if you need to go up a level in Body control module to go with wiring harness at lest $50 off Ebay. The wiring I have, shows the same for the compressor etc in the engine bay but lots of differences in the cabin ie add cabin temp sensor, ambient temp sensor, ambient solar sensor, remote receiver module, vacuum solenoid pack, over the left and right air mix motors which I think are in the heater box and the abs & tcs modules and instruments add ons (that might if your lucky be already in an acclaim) and your on your way to climate control.
Don't let me sound to harsh, I have an acclaim and I've bought a climate control unit and a BCM
Just do your home work before you start
PS the VE has no less that 8 on board computers I'm told

you will need to change the HVAC case complete, the body wiring harness complete, the front wiring harness complete, the bcm has nothing to do with it, massive job.
