Default Tips for driving a lowered car?

    Hoy boys n gals,

Had my new VY for a month now, first lowered car, it is dumped on lows with a full clubsport kit.. n :P yeah yeah i know, if i had $30g i would have bought a real one.

Newho my issue is I keep scraping the front mainly in dip gutters, n have scraped the side skirt once I drive as slow as possible n try to take it on a angle but am not having the best of luck..any suggestions? How do u all cope with such low cars?

Is it possible to get my springs stretched an inch higher? odd request i know lol.

sometimes adding angle to your bumps etc can make it worse. The best way to learn is to keep driving around and learning what type of bumps your car will scrap on. Also you might have to accept the fact that you cant drive your car into certain driveways or carparks.

My tip would be not to drive over kerbs, speed bumps or through dip gutters.

Pretty sure what your scraping is just a black plastic guard, not the bar itself, nothing to worry about besides the awful sound. Turning the stereo up fixes this.

running 18" wheels. Might be lower than normal low springs but im no expert . Gotta hate the noise, just worried about getting a mark where it shows. Does anyone else get many scrape marks under there cars? Any long term results to worry about? Yep as you can tell, i love my car heh

put 19's on it may give a touch more clearance depending on profile etc, other than that, pick your roads carefully and goin on a severe angle helps.

lows are the equivalent to fe2 then super lows are the one below from what iv been told, my vy ss is on the factory fe2 suspension, i don't scrap except my front bar on steep driveways, learnt to go slow on a minor angle and the concrete blocks at the end of the carparks, iv caught on them b4 and gutters when parking that sit high, which has damaged and bent my front bar a bit on the sides

the only problem u will have is some speed humps, just dont fly over them, the only other real drama is driveways, u might have to go out on an angle, i scrape the underside of my vx front bar if i drive straight out of a driveway.

    HAHAH

My old VY had super lows. As someone said watch out for the concrete stops at the end of carpark bays. Mine got caught on the bolts once and it ripped the whole front bar off....

Dont go up the angled gutters, infact just dont go up gutters lol

Some speed bumps are worse then others. Some you can go over fine and some you'll have to go over on an angle.

Watch out for pot holes and dips in the road. You should know where they on the roads you drive on alot.

Dont have 4 fat blokes in it, or you'll have to nice sound and small of tyres rubbing, but as STEALTHY said, turn the radio up and open the windows. Its a case of charter boat, what charter boat..

one more thing, watch where you park, your door is now lower so it may hit objects that it wouldnt hit b4.

I have more problems with the cats more than anything. The after-market ones sit a bit lower than the stockies.

ok if you are going to a race track i suppose, but if you like a bone jarring ride and have to worry about which car parks you go to then go ahead and be in with the crowd!

Well i dont know how you guys are whinging about driving with lows and super lows.
Im runnning SSL's and SSSL's in my clubby with the bodykit and everything, like chubby is.
Its not fun in carparks and stuff, but you learn what to go near and what not to
Cant expect to be a 4x4 and go over anything

Thats why you have a 4WD high VL as your backup car.

Love speed bumps at full speed!

As other people have said, go on an angle slowly and speed bumps slowly and watch the cement barrier in shopping carparks, ouch. All my cars have been lowered and you cant avoid the odd scrape underneath.Just avoid the ones you can see

Mate that's part of the price you pay for driving a lowered vehicle. I had a Cooper S for many years and believe me that was the perfect vehicle to learn how to negotiate all sorts of obstacles and in particular the skills of 'ground appreciation'.
