pictures aren't working for me????????
have setup a link to image shack where hosted
WOW what a mess on the other commy!!!!1
Fairdinkum?!? made a mess of the vk! And i thought there was less metal in the later models!!!!!!!
my tow bar took most of the brunt of the crash and came out unscathed. the only damage to it was the towball cover.
^^^ lol We rear ended a ute with a towbar in our old ford. Completely destroyed the front of the car and pretty much cleaned the towbar of the other car. It was at a 2 lane bridge that they thought it could only fit one car at a time, they slamed their brakes on n we hit them at about 40k's
Someone put the photos up, cant see em

ouch, thats one smashed up vk, like u said good thing for haveing a tow bar fitted
Your car held up pretty well, quite surprised!!!!....
I was expecting a smashed rear end.
when i read this i thought took u on in a drag. shame about the car (yours) shouldnt be too dear a fix? maybe get a clubsport rear kit? hehe
Wow haha lucky for the bullbar.
I have just been to a holden recommended panel beater and they have looked the car over and think the the chasse might have been bent a little due to the hard hit the towbar took so it will be intrsting to see what else they find. there is definatly something wrong with the suspention cause the car is handling really badly at the moment so depending on how things go it might end up being a write off.
Also to top things off the car is now comming up with SRS Airbag fault for no reason, the air bags never deployed mind you that could be becuse there was a fault with them.

just been contacted by my insurance company my claim has been accepted so now have to find out if they will fix it or write the beast off being as i have just had it on a hoist and found that the chassie is slightly bent causing the the driveshaft on the drivers side to be out of alignment and the passenger front door to be leaking water grrrrr. wil keep you all posted
Towbars are great - until you bang your shin on them walking past the back of the car!![]()

will have to see, what happens, so far the the fix list is as follows:
remove dents in back of car ($3000NZ - $6000NZ worth without paint)
new drivers side tail light,
new boot lid complete with new badges and chrome trim (old boot lid not fixable),
new rear bumper (old one is too warped)
New heavy duty towbar $500NZ - $1200NZ (old one looks ok but took too much of a hit for me to really trust it)
reallign chassie (might not be possible willhave to see)
reallign passenger side doors due to them having moved
check airbag system being as it is reporting a fault with the system
realign drive shaft
there maybe more but i wont know untill the accesor has a look at it tomorrow.
all fun and games and to top it all off im currently working graveyard shifts so i do not operate normal working hours to work in with the panel beaters![]()
grrr car audio sounds like crap now due to having put the factory system back in, there is no way it is going to the panel beaters with $2000 worth of sound system still in especilly if they write it off. i was a bit supprised that the factory head unit didnt ask for a security code even though it has been unplugged for over a year.
Just to update you all i have just got my commodore back from the panel beaters all fixed, the chassie was 5mm out from the smack the towbar took when it hit the other guys motor.
all up it cost around $4500 NZ to fix and now looks like new again.
