Default vy series2. car locks itself when put in gear. normal or not?

hey guys and gals, recently bought myself a vy series 2 executive and so far have found one thing very annoying. when i put the car into gear (auto) the doors lock. is this normal? or something that has been fitted as an extra? i know that some cars do this as a security precaution but didnt know if it was available on a commodore. my wife has told me on several occasions that the doors havent locked at all but i am yet to notice it. any help would be appreciated. just want to know if i should get it looked at or not. and if possible is there anyway to switch it off so it no longer does it? thanks in advance

Hi ya. There is a setting in the computer that you can change through the start up menu. I hope that makes sense, its been a while since I played with one.

    Cheers.

This particular feature is a security feature designed to help prevent car high-jacking, theft of bags and valuables by opening the passenger side door when car is stationary, road rage assaults etc etc. As stated, it can be turned off if desired.

more than likely a aftermarket alarm feature on your car.

whan you 1st turn your key on to the acc position the display on your dash will come up with the normal holden test screen and once that has cleared it will come with a message saying to press a certain button to enter the menu.

the setting is in there i think it is called door lock in drive or something like that.

Yep it's in the options menu, when you turn on the key and it does the system check, it will then go to options menu. Press either of the arrow buttons to enter customisation mode then press i think mode button to skip through the menu until you reach "doors locked when in drive". You can then turn the feature off.
