    Default Damn Trucks

    Unbelievable,

I was driving in the middle lane of a three lane road where i was stopped at a set of traffic lights, When a truck decided he would much more enjoy being in my lane rather than his own. As the lights turned green, slowly started taking off (there was a truck in front of me aswell) i looked out my window to see the nose of a HUGE semi-trailor with its indicator flashing less than 50cm away from my face. I tried to change lanes and speed up and beeping my horn, he clipped the back of my car. Spun me 90 degrees.I straightened up and begun to follow him so we could do the normal proceedure and exchange insurance details he speeds off going through 2 red lights almost taking out another innocent ford festiva (would that of really been a shame, why the commodore?) I wasn't keep to chase him. I tried to get number plate, which i was SURE i was correct as i repeated it to myself 1000 times until i found a pen to write it down.

But when i got to the cop shop they couldn't find anything with those plate numbers and theres nothing i can do... This sucks. |

Sorry if my spelling and grammar is horrible im still a little shaken and ****ed off.

bugger mate. Any pics of the damage?

I believe that most truck drivers are drugged up assholes because of their actions. Most shouldn't be on the roads.

Thats bs man, feel for ya coz it's almost happened to me soo many times before.

I hate it when truckies drive like they're in a small sedan and use the overtaking lane ect.

Why doesnt Australia make a law that they shoudn't use the overtaking lane on highways etc. They have that law in the UK, why not here?

I was watching a current affair (or today tonight) a little while ago... they were filming in melbournes burnley tunnel i think, talking about accidents in the tunnels, when a truck changed lanes and actually put a mercedes into a spin. Have a look at YouTube - Melbourne Domain Tunnel truck and car crash
Anyway, apparently this happened because trucks have a blind spot near the front of the truck, to the left. If you were on his left side near the front of him, he probably didn't see you. Pitty you didn't get his details, i'd be spewing.

What can ya do but? Truckies get so off on speed bombs the go drive at 150kms on a freeway.. what do you thinks gonna happen?

I'm just glad there wasn't more damage than there is. let alone if i or the truck was moving at a decent pace.

Trucks Cant do 150ks even without the Speed Limiter..

All I can see is a lot of opinionated people so far..
You do know that with out trucks none of you would be driving..
    haven't heard the saying..
    Without trucks Australia Stops..
If you think about it there is nothing in your house that at some time hasn't been in a truck..

What is it with people and p platers!? They cop so much ****.
When i was on my p's i just couldn't stand the fact than everyone that wasn't a p plater would give you a hard time. I would get honked at and have people flash me with their lights when i would get in front of them, people would look at me and shake their heads when i put my foot down in my 4cyl nissan pulsar that had a pod filter... just because it made a lot of noise didn't mean i was speeding! Now i'm of my p's, i drive a car that makes a lot more noise and is a lot faster, and i don't have any hassles.

That is shocking mate, its too bad you didnt notice the truck company and ring them up. I cant beleive they cant do anything about it. Two of my best mates are truck drivers and they are the best blokes you can meet, they DO cop allot of slack but there are allot of ****head drivers just like you had experienced mate. I would try and chase it up, I woudnt take that lying down. As for trucks reaching 150km/h....mate thats **** easy for them to do.

So i put my foot down, bit sh*t. I can do that in 3rd gear at 20km/h and i will go nowhere, but it will make a lot of noise. My point is when people see P plates on your car, they get very critical of your driving. Remove the p plates, and no problems at all.

Of course they can go 150! i've seen it.. if not 150 VERY close.

    DVOLVO
Don't stress, i TOTALLY agree with you. Australia needs trucks and theres nothing wrong with the people. Just the industry.. Truckies trying to keep up with their demands makes them do stupid and negligent things (running into the back of someone because they don't want to stop at the red light)

Does the fact they are highly needed mean they are EXEMPT from the road laws?

I didn't mean to offend anyone, im just really damn ****ed off about my car.

Yeah lucky we were only moving at about 10km's. The damage isn't anything terrible. Nothing a small car couldn't of done with enough force.

Too be honest im more annoyed with all the passing traffic that didn't stop or report it more so with the truckie that did it..

Look i have no problem with trickies, a lot of blame should be pushed to the companies that push ridiculous time frames on them.
    BUT
Please tell me what the problem is with restricting trucks to the left hand lanes on freeways? Because that is one legislation that the government should actually enforce.

And to 'DVOLVO' i understand that they pay more for their rego, this is because they drive a much larger vehicle but when it concern's safety of other drivers i think that this law that they currently enforce in the UK should be implemented here.
If you look up the statistics of accidents on our roads, trucks make up a very large number.

    ..
Paying more rego doenst exempt them from anything or give them special privledges or is a reason that they shouldnt have extra conditions placed on them.

In fact if they paid rego on the same basis as car drivers, mass and km travelled, they'd be up for much more than they pay now.
We already subsidise trucks to a huge degree, road repair crews would be a dying breed without them. The cost of making a road that can take a B double at 110kmh is exponentially greater than if it were for cars only.
Only through more diesel tax or some sat tracking device where they pay by the km will we really get the real culprits that damage the roads to actually pay their fair share.

I would have turned into the hulk and chased his arse till I ran out of petrol. ****ing Coward.

You damage something, you take reasonability for your actions and accept the consequences.

Not run away like a little girl. I do a lot of highway driving and on a daily basis and I see ruck drivers using bully tactics to get in front of other cars, just indicate and move over in a double B making the person brake heavy to avoid getting killed... don’t care who you are that’s just a complete arsehole thing to do.

First of all, not sure if you thought to look, but was there a company on the truck? (either the cab or sometimes on the tool boxes)

Also, i've personally been in a truck doing 120, with a speed limiter to 100.......
    Theres ways around them.

This is true. A lot of the ones that are apparently speed limited are not.

Newer trucks get around it by putting smaller profile tyres on.

Older trucks that don't have computer systems that track everything can really go as fast as they want, newer ones would have their warranty voided at the first service when they download the data.

I drive trucks and have never seen this, not even very close!
Regardless, not all of us are bad but like driving cars there are tools everywhere out there. I hope you can find who was responsible so they can pay for the damage.
