Default Another vy fog light thread

I am asking this for a mate of mine. I have read the threads about this and just want to sort this out. My mate has a vy acclaim and has mounted some after market fog lights in his bumper, he also has changed the light switch to the one with fog lights on it. Under the bumper on both sides there is a unused plug with two wires on it. There is a provision for relay and fuse in the fuse box.
Now when he went to wire it up he tested the plug in the front to find that one wire is constant positive with no relay or fuse or even the switch in the on position or off position. From reading the other threads I understand that the negative is switched so thats ok but the thing that stumped us was that he only used one end of his tester to get it lit up and by that I mean he didn't earth the tester which we thought was strange. Now from reading the treads on this I take it that those plugs at the front of the car might not be fog lights but there is one on both sides of the car so I didn't think it would be extra horn. What is the best way of wiring this up? can it be done by adding the relay and fuse or does he need to run an extra wire from the switch? He would prefer to keep it as factory as possible too.
    Cheers

i just rigged up some foggies on my VY SV8, bought a SS switch (like he did) and a relay to plug the hole and connected the plugs under the bar and works perfectly. has he tried just hooking it all up and trying it?

He reckons he tried one light but I think he might have hooked up positive and just earthed it to body which is why it stayed on but I'm not sure. What colour were the wires in your SV8 and what kind of relay did you use? We used my VT as a guide so he tried his horn relay.

why would you do that? use both. its right there anyway. Passenger side there is a purple wire with a white stripe and a white wire with blue stripe. drivers side is a purple wire with white stripe (same as pass) and a white wire with black stripe.

I'm using the genuine fog light relay from holden. got it the same time as the switch. it was like $5 or $10 ( im not sure i got the parts for trade ) it was reasonable anyways.

coming off the same loom on the pass side there are who exposed wires with clips (looks like its there for a extra horn or something) the wires are green and black with white stripe. if somebody know what there for it would be much appreciated.

Ok he did use both wires on the plug and the light stayed on without relay or with it and regardless of the switch position. He compared it to a VY SS and it has the same wires in the front for it's fog lights. Still stumped if it's the switch or something else. Also rekons when putting in switch that all the wires were in the back of the plug.

Yep - second horn connects to those in Calais.
