Factory sub VY R8

Hi guys who can tell me where the factory POS sub can be found in my R8 might sound stupid but I can't find it, also does anyone know off hand what size the speakers are throughout, thanks.

there should be 2 8 inch subs in the parcel shelf, i know that rockford fosgate do some pretty awesome replacement ones

What are the factory ones running off are they amped or does the head unit have outs?

they are only 50 watt subs, you can get high to low level RCA converters and run a power wire a small 2 chanel amp, my mate did it in his VX clubby and it sounded pretty bassy, he only used a 300 watt 2 channel amp

I think they do have a small amp in the boot. I know the statesmans did so if the set up is the same then you should be able to find it in the boot.

Yes indeed, as NickVR suggested they do have a little amp mounted somewhere behind the trim in the boot. (I'm pretty sure....) I have one of these amps at home - was given to me by a mate who works in Holden spares. (it's broken, was replaced under warranty) I pulled it to bits and had a look out of curiosity, and found a pretty cheap and nasty amplifier solution to be honest. I wasn't the least bit impressed.

It's not running from true low-level outputs either, it's driven by the speaker outputs from the head unit. Not really my preferred option - very much an "afterthought add-on".

Might sound OK with some decent drivers mounted on the parcel shelf, but these head units are capable of so much better performance once true RCA outputs are added.
