    Question Remove Factory Stereo Tips/Tricks

    Hey Guys n Gals,

Found the info on how to make the tools to correctly remove my VY head unit, which I happly removed like 3 weeks ago. But now with the same tools I have having a bloody difficult time and can't seem to get the dam thing out.

Any ideas? If i remove the whole surround does it make it any easier to attack?

I am installing my new duel din dvd player woop!

I would try by taking the whole surround out. Can't hurt. If that doesn't work, buy the tools (look on ebay) or maybe a local dealership could do it for you. Good luck mate.

The coat hanger thing does work, but you need good stiff wire. Just push them in until you feel the wires click - this means the clips are pushed back.

The head unit can be pretty tightly clipped in (especially the wiring plugs) so you might need to apply a fair bit of force. Removing the whole centre console fascia only takes a couple minutes and 4 or 5 screws, so I would recommend removing it to apply more force.

It's really not difficult, but you have to pull a bit harder than feels safe for a few small bits of plastic. Give it hell!

yeh the trick is just to keep forcing the coat hanger in, dont be scared, you wont break anything.
