Only started today, but whenever i deadlock the car (press button on fob twice) the car repeats a series of fast beeps when the incators are flashing. i thought it might be because one of the doors or boot is ajar but it dosent appear so and the car has never done it before. any suggestions? i know there is a setting for the horn to sound when car locks but i had this disengaged and it only does it when i deadlock. is quiet when i just "lock it"
maybe the car is not dead locking properly and its a way of telling you its faulty???
Metal sticker under horn pad peeling off?
well i only noticed today when i went to lunch, maybe they did something to the battery when i got the exhaust done (sat morn) and havent noticed till now. anyways i'll have a deeper look into it.
This happened to me too. It was that the driver door's lock wasn't going all the way down so it beeped quickly and flashed the indicators. The way we fixed it was taking it to our panel beater. They pulled the door trim off and did some stuff and it works again.
Thankfully it was free because we do his electrical work and he does our car work. I have no idea on how much it would cost normally.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
door trim is easy to take off, i have taken all mine off before replacing the speakers. i'll check it out and if thats the cause shouldnt be too bad to fix.
car did it again when i got home from work so did some hunting in the dark and found that the passengers front door didnt lock and by the time i realised, the alarm went off its head. so im thinkin its the door lock actuator. does anyone know if there separate to the locking mechanism? and what there worth to replace s/h and new? and how hard they are to do?
i price and sell a few of these at work but on Rangerovers not holdens so they can be more than $400 plus fit.
how did you disengage the horn when you lock/unlock the car? my wh is weird it honks sometimes but pretty rare...
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
when it honks i believe its like a warning telling you that one of the doors didnt lock right so next time it does it, check your doors. in the cars options in the VY's you can select the car to sound the horn when locking everytime but i dont think anyone actually selects this mode as it would be so annoying.
ey will, holden revised the actuator design in the VZ, they added a counter weight on the lock mechanism which is supposed to stop the actuator from moving up too far which wrecks them
they are about $140 from holden, go to motor traders tho you will get it cheaper with trade price and they are pretty easy to install
take the door trim off and remove the plastic, unclip the actuator rods from the lock mechanism, unclip the electrical connector
undo the torx bolts on the door and remove it then replace it and remember which way the actuator rods go lol.... otherwise you will ahve doors opening everytime you hit the button![]()
cheers ben, i'll give Claridge or MT a ring tomorrow. see who will give me more trade discount! lol. so VZ actuators pratically the same?
yeh almost all of the replacement parts on the VY's now are VZ parts
sweet as! now, i really got to buy a torx set.
i think 6 mm tip flatblade screwdrivers work good too![]()
