Default Stereo stays on after exiting the vehicle

    Hi all

I have an ex cop 2004vy commodore which has about 240,000kms on it. The door lock actuators are starting to play up.. The diff makes knocking noises when accelerating or braking (have checked mounts they are ok) .. But what i am concerned with is the factory stereo/acc turns back on sometimes after getting out of the vehicle??? I checked the stereo when i got out this morning, it was turned off. I checked it at lunch time to find the damn thing blaring away!! Now opening and shutting the door does not turn it off, Only putting the key in the ignition ..turning to on then back off and removing key, opening the door turns it off again.. This has happened twice now. Is the problem related to faulty door actuators in any way?? I did not lock the car this morning if that helps. Does anyone know what to replace in the actuators??? motor or components??

    Thanks
    George

    I agree with xi803,

the contact on the drivers door switch is most commonly the culprit, sometimes just rotating it back and forth will sometimes be enough to clean the contact.

Another problem can be if the 7.5 amp stereo accessory fuse is blown in the fusebox under the dash. If this is blown, the stereo just keeps on going, and has to be turned off with the 'Off' button. With this fuse blown, the stereo doesn't detect the accessory circuit switching on and off.

I reckon the first part is most likely your problem, I just thought I'd put the second one in in case anyone else has had the same issue. It took me a week to find that one, Holden Service Dept couldn't even give me a pointer!

mine does it but its a bit stranger.. the stereo turns off when you open the door then turns back on.. i think its some dodgy thing to do with the aerial because it only ever does it on the radio setting, never on a cd or ipod (cheers phreddy).. lol dodgy
