Default Window is Scraping - HELP!

Just noticed thismorning that the exterior of my front passenger electric window is scratching on some mechanism inside the door... I have these large sratches which are appearing up and down the window.. it is occurring towards the rear of the window...

i have attatched some pics so hopefully you will get the idea... sorry for the poor quality, i have included some arrows to point out where the damage is.

i removed the door trim but i cant seem to spot anything obvious that is scratching it.

I had exactly the same thing in my vy! I couldn’t work out if it was a tiny rock or something in the door itself was making it scratch it.

I was spewing cus I had just got my windows tinted like a week b4 hand when it started. Does it make a scratching sound when you put the window down?

Ok settle down, its not the end of the world lol

Yeah same, mine was on the outside, I'd try shooting the hose at where the scratches are coming from, or some compressed air.

Have you put the window all the way down and had a look into the window cavity with a light to see if anything is poking out? check to see that nothing is caught in the rub strip aswell.

it looks/sounds like you have dirt or something in your belt mould. like banks said, chuck some high pressure water down there, see if it frees it up.

I had the same thing when I bought the car a few years ago, has since disappeared and left just the scratches. NFI what it was either.

i would think it was dirt or crap of somekind, but the scratches are too wide spred for it.

the vt did the same thing.... what it is is the clips that hold the outer bottom trim on.
Im pretty sure its the same with the vy... theres 3 plastic clips under the trim and if you take it off you can file the edge of the clip that is touching the window

I had the same prob with my VX on the passenger side window. You have to remove the moulding on the top of the door and give it a good clean as it gets alot of crap stuck to it

Don't know if this will help but I found it on ebay

    VT Manufacture faults-

You will be pretty disapointed in Holden when discovering the amount in a VT. Fortunatly this CD reveals them all, (pages of them), with detailed pictures and step by step instructions on rectifing the problems. Here is an example:

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Some early Built vehicle’s may experience fine scratching

on the outside of the drivers door glass, as a result of the

glass coming in contact with the belt line moulding retainer clips.

    SERVICE RECTIFICATION

On any vehicle built prior to L262434 ( 3rd SEP ‘97 ) that

experiences scratched door glass as described above,

the belt line moulding clips must be modified as follows:

    1) Remove belt line moulding.

    2) Using side cutters or sharp Stanley blade cut off leg of 3 clips

    3) Reinstall Moulding.

Glass isnt easily scratched that severly by dirt or stones.
If this is the case, wind the window all the way down and run your finger behind the mould. I bet you dont feel rocks and have nothing more than dust on your finger

Instead youll actually feel the metal clips that hold the mould on.
They might seem like their not touching but if you apply preasure with your finger on the rubber like the window would, Youll notice you can feel it sticking out.

Easy fix as Steve has pointed out above is to clip the metal. Or a safer way, is to file the clips edge so their not sharp.
