03 vy 3.8 auto flares 1st to sec gear ?

HI can anyone give me advise on what could be causing my 03 vy v6 auto to flare slightly going first to sec gear in econ mode works fine in power mode ,took trans pan off thinking burnt clutchs ,nope fliud clean and nothing in bottom off pan
The auto works fine in all other gears in power or econ mode,car has never towed done 250,000kms, any ideas dont want to spend 3k on fully rebiut trans or 1.5k for second hand auto new baby on way

i had the same problem in my vy (v8 auto), after its first rebuild(under holden warranty) there was still a slight bit of flaring, i took it back bout 10-11 months later (under parts warranty and labour) and it turned out to be just a 1-2 shift solenoid valve, something small and nice and easy, so could start there, with replacing the shift solenoid, hope that helps, thats what mine was and it was doing the exact same thing.
