VY R8 short shifter

Hi All, I was looking at getting a short shifter for my R8 which is supposedly 40mm shorter than stock but somebody told me the R8 is already shorter than stock but to be honest it doesn't look it but before I buy one I wanted to double check if it's true or not, so is it going to be shorter then the one I have?

this is true, the HSV already has a shorter shifter by 40mm. i just installed a HSV copy into my SV8. if you dont think it looks short, have a look at an SS next time your near a car yard.
