Default Need to fix a few little things on my commodore vy, advice appreciated plz!

Hey guys, ended up buying a silver vy lumina, looks great had it checked out by my mechanic and he said it was in great shape but just needed a few little things to fix up... Hoping i can do those myself, so if anyone knows how to or if you recommend against it i would greatly appreciate it...

-The rear dif oil needs to be changed...
-The rear gearbox seal needs to be changed.
-the radiator needs to be flushed and new coolant (i heard this is quite hard on this model cause the cap is hard to reach or something?) also what coolant should i use?
-and its idling a little bit rough, its not bad or anything but i was wondering what i could do about that? The injector leads have all been checked.

    Thanks heaps for any replies.

    Regards,

    Korrupt

diff oil is quite easy. just drain and refill.

Oh i forgot to mention it takes bloody ages to pump the new oil in.

I radiator flushed mine and it was way harder than doing it to a falcon.

take the car for a good hours drive to do the diff....
once the diff oils warm you can drain it by loosening the top bolt first to let the air in then un screwing the bottom to let it drain. once drained do the bottom bolt back up and fill it from the top, when oils about to flow from the top bolt its full so do it up hand tight.

the easiest way to flush ur radiator is to undo the top & bottom hoses then get ur garden hose and chuck it into the top hose to let it flush it..( same for the engine block) it may pay to remove the thermostat as it can stop the flow

gearbox seal can be tricky and probebly easier and safer to get a mechanic to do it (shouldnt cost much and te seals are only $15)

I could be wrong so this is a guide only hope its helpful

    Thanks guys,

well the mechanic is a friend of the family so he quoted me $250 to do all 3, does that sound pretty reasonable? I'm thinking if its not a lot more than buying the stuff and fitting it myself it might be easier to let him do it... The gearbox seal is the thing i'd definitely get done by him and i'm guessing that part makes up the majority of the $250?

    Thanks again

Mate - that's a bargain. Cost me $350 just to have the gearbox seal done at Holden in ******* WA
