Default Need a new fuel line , Nil Stock Australia ???

My 5 year old VY Ute is going to cost me $2500 to replace the entire fuel system

the tank s rusted in 5 years , so have all the lines and rails

it has been in the dealer since 1.09.08

the only thing holding it up is 1 x fuel line from the filter to the engine/fuel rail

    Part # 92078444

if any one can help me locate one it , It would be much appreciated

tried rare spares , tried to google the part # , nothing

there is no ETA for the fuel line as im told there is none in stock

i thought about a 2nd hand one to get me going , but am concerned about warranty

unbelievable , the UTE is still on the original tyres and only done 70,000 Klms

the filter was replaced at 45,000 Klms

Water in the fuel will, but for it to be that much you would have been getting fuel with water in it for quite a while.

theres a product we have at work its basically called citric acid i think, it cleans surface rust off metal, and believe me it works,

maybe try something like that to clean the rust out of the fuel line

flushing these lines is not an option

is there any Melbourne wreckers that specialise in Utes ?

are the lines the same on the VZ ?

the lines may not be the same as alloytecs use a different fuel system

East Comm wreckers in FTG Melbourne.
    9758-2955
    They have heaps of VY's
    I would risk it myself.
How the hell does a aussie manufacturer have nil stock IN THE COUNTRY??????
Thats crap if you ask me.
And for that money I would have ****ed off the petrol system and gone with straight gas Liquid LPG injection and enjoy MUCH better performance than petrol at $1 less a litre!!!!

thanks Lads for the suggestions ,

i was told by the dealer that it has to start on Pertrol , before it can run on gas

but that was a vapour injection system , then he said the valves would stuff up in no time

might be time to get a flat bed and take it some where else

well todays the day i got ther fugger going again

after being told i had to wait 4-6 weeks on parts (fuel lines)

i decided to grab the bull by the horns and do it myself

went to melbourne to pick up a tank and fuel lines , tasnk was VU and no lines either

so i made 1 pump out of 2 , changing the housing as they have differant plugs and return line sizes

flushed all the crap out of the lines , what a jigsaw , the fuggin rubicks cube of fuel systems

remember i didnt pull them out

any way flushed the tank , mounted all the lines , replaced the rail and put another fuel fitler inline

what a nightmare , since when is it acceptable to have a 5 year old car with no parts ?

remember wreckers all cut them , coz ya have to drop the right hand rear a frame to do it ...*snip*

i rang every wrecker in Victoria and a few in south oz as well and yeah their was another vy ute in the same dealer

    WANTED/REWARD

complete vy/vu ute fuel system cable tied together

this is what hydrogen fuel cells do to your car......

seriously. you must of got dodgy fuel for that to happen, and you would of had to of let it run dry considering water floats on top of fuel.

Well when was the last time you *ever* needed a new fuel line on a car that new? I would think the demand would be less than a handful each year.

payed $200 for the 2nd hand VU tank and fuel pump

payed $150 + $40 slab of beer to mate with pit who helped put it back together

payed $30 for 2 x fuel filters and another $17 for the plastic things to get lines off

payed $540 to dealer to diagnose/pull it apart and replace the engine rail

so $977 all up but i still need the lines if im going to keep it

thatll require the right rear a frame to come out

    Wow, that sure is amazing..

I have several 30 year old holdens with much better fuel systems than that ute!

I cant believe it could rust that much in such a short period of time

yeah well i cant believe i cant get parts for it for 2 months

lousy service from the local dealer as well , pulling a car apart when theres no spare parts for 8 weeks and no courtesy car !!!!!!

they were happy to let it sit in their yard all that time , thats why i got it flat bedded out of there and fixed it my self , other wise it would still be there for another 3 weeks !!!

If anyone needs fuel or brake lines replaced a good place is a trailer builder. They make the brake lines for the trailers from scratch. Just take in a set of old lines you want replaced so they can get the length and bends right.

except these have special plastic ends on them , i used to work for Pirtek and make grease lines etc like these , but i wouldn't attempt to make these as they run in a set of 4 in a boxed like configuration intricately over the rear axle

that could make it tricky..but nothing is impossible. I have a VN and the lines on them are fairly simple, but I've never seen the setup on a VY, sounds a bit more complicated.
