Hey guys, new here. Certainly not new to Commodores though, have had more cars than cooked dinners since I got my Ps 9 years ago. All Holdens except one WRX and most recently a late model XR6 Turbo.
Anyways, all that aside I recently traded down to save more cash so I can get in a new house and got myself a tidy VY Berlina with 45K on the clock off a little old lady in a posh suburb (her lawn bowls car).
Pretty happy with it thus far, although it does need to be slammed with factory Berlina rims ditched. The thing that seems to be driving me nuts the most (and I know this is picky) is the steering wheel - big clunky plastic thing! Yuck :/
How easy is it to put a leather wrapped wheel out of a VY onward Calais or Berlina? I'm wondering how this works in regard to the airbag and such. I'm going to track down a wreck if easy enough to fit and put it on...
Any advice?
Hey mate,
Welcome n congrats on the new car!
It is quite easy to swap, you can get a black leather one with those silver steering wheel spokes from either a wreckers like just commodore spares (might set you back $180) or I have even seen them on eBay.
I did mine and it makes a hell of a difference. Your current airbag should swap straight over to the new steering wheel without any hick ups.
Hit me up if you need instructions on how to remove the steering wheel/airbag.
Take care,
Rhys
Too easy, thanks mate. Will trawl through ebay and will def hit you up if i get stuck on the fitting side of things.
Cheers
