I drove my car home..stopped, put it into park, handbrake on, foot off brake......the car(vy berlina 2) dropped a few inches to the right.....
When i got out of my car, i saw that the right rear wheel arch had a few inches less clearance.....
obviously my mechanic/holden will have a look at it(i have that 2nd hand car warranty from heartland holden) and tell me whats wrong.....just wondering if anyone here knows what sorta money i could be looking at to fix it....and if im a freaked out as i should be...i post alot about interiors here, but i dont know much about mechanics..
thanks

I think someone tied your handbrake cable to your coil spring.
So you didn't notice it until you had pulled up oir you physically felt it drop in the driveway right there and then?
Sounds like an odd one...does it still drive? had a look underneath?
is the spring still in there lol? is the ride a bit bouncier than it used to?

The car still drives perfectly, pulling up anywhere is not a problem...its just after i've put my hand brake on, the second i take my foot off the brake it drops to the rear right.
EDIT: just did some testing on my driveway. The flatter the surface, the less it does it, to the point where it isnt happening. On the left side of my slopey driveway, it just does as i wrote above, dropping, and when i stick it in reverse to back up, i can feel the rear right lifting again as i take off.
On the right hand side of the driveway, when my foot is removed from the pedal(in P with hbrake on) i can hear grinding and the car skids downwards a little for about a 2 seconds...Could this be something to do with dodgy rotors? To me it sounds as though the handbrake cant get grip so it half lets go for a second.
I also noticed that when it does this, when i stop the car it rocks abit more than normallly does, swaying back and forth. The ride isnt bouncier though.
I've had mechanics at work do a quick physical check for obvious signs, and pushed the car's suspension up and down and so on. I'm not worried terribly, but its quite strange and unnerving. Reccomend i take it in for further checking?
Thanks for everyones replies

has the height of the handbrake lever changed at all, with the handbrake on have a look under the rear wheels where the backing plate is on the brakes, at the bottom of that you will see a lever with a hook and a metal rope with a spring looking cover on it, if you pull the cable outwards on both sides is the movement equal? and is both cables still attached?
