VY Awards...

I was wondering if the VY won any big awards when it first come out, does anyone know e.g. Car of the year or best fuel usage for a 6 or an 8 cylinder..

Thought it would be intresting to know.

Why? My Senator uses less fuel than my XR6...uses less fuel than most guys with any Holden 6 that I know also.

i don't think the commo won any awards between the vt and the ve ie. vx/y/z.


and that wouldn't surprise me with minux using less fuel than most 6's.

it is a common perception that v8's use a lot more fuel than a six when its only 1 or 2 litres/100km and if the v8 is tuned it will be better than the 6.

cant vouch for that my vy uses 17-19 per 100 lol short trips on cold morning dont help though

my supercharged vy average is around the 19 lt per hundred but i only do short trips. on a long interstate run i have got as low as 9.3 lts per hundred kms

I still don't know how you get 11L/100kms around town... How do you drive it? What do you rev it too? Are your averages actually calculated (i.e. litres you fill into tank divided by kilometers traveled), or just from the trip computer?

my 6, gets between 9 and 12L p/100k normal, short trips. had it as low as 7.8 on a drive to the gold coast.

I calculate by both trip computer and actual fuel used vs km driven according to odo. I don't really drive that fast in fact people get angry at me sometimes.

As an example of my drives, I drive from Wandana Heights to Waurn Ponds shopping area, Wandana to McColls, Wandana to North Geelong, Wandana to city, Wandana to Bell Post Hill. All stop start trips all at various times of the day.

I sat on my phone to the tuner on the highway in disbelief when I told him it was sitting on 6.9 @ 100 on flat. The second I start giving it to it, well lets just say the one day I took it out to the complex, I used a full tank and a 20 litre jerry to get home in 290k's of driving. Which was an average of 31L/100

goin by my trip comp i get 12ishL per hund. ive had it as low as 6.9 on the highway. i gotta calculate it myself to see how accurate it is. but i do know i use less fuel than my previous cars ecotec.

my 6 averages 11 from here to work which is about a 10 minute drive stopping starting... on weekends deso it will average about 10 had it at 8 when i drove to the snow

does the grade of fuel used affect average fuel usage too? my v6 uses 15/100,my dads vy v8 used 17-18. that was back when it was abit more affordable though

VY Berlina V6, I get around 15.8 around town, real short trips, average speed is only 26kmh, highway driving it gets around 8.2, down as low as 7.9 on one trip, all with the aircon on. Thats using BP98
