A v6 will be like 8 on the hwy i think and about 10-12 around town, more if you thrash it.

a v6 around town will be 13-15, not sure about highway
My VY V6 get about 12-15 depending on how we drive it. Highway it gets about 7.5/100.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
i get about 13.8L/100km each time, thats somewhat due to the fact im a p-plater, we all live the power.
on highway the best i have gotten is about 8.2L/100km
lol, yep SS here and i get 14 with normal driving and 15-16 if i thrash it.
9-10 on the highway
Just buy one on gas.

Yeah a v8 with a tune doesn't use any more petrol than a 6 if you drive it right.
My friend was given a ford wagon on factory gas, and reckons he got 500kms from the first half of the tank driving lead foot, and it cost him $45 (i think) or so to fill. Bloody awesome.

My VX supercharged 6 gets 680 kms per tank on the freeway but around town 480.
I must be real unlucky but lucky at the same time. In peak our traffic for me which is usual driving i get up too 18.5L but the very very best i got was 4.7L which last like 10 seconds the went back up slowly... but yeh, i shoulda took a foto coz i cant c that happening anytime soon!

Got a 10th month 03 vy2. About 9 - 9.5 on hiway and 10.5 around town. I run it on premium.
Just picked up my December 02 VY S in hothouse green, ran it 150km home, cruise control at average 88 and 6.3l/100km.... interesting.
Also LOVE IT.
thnx all ... yea i may look into gas sounds pretty awsum
Check out liquid gas direct injection, actually runs a higher octane than petrol and is more accurate.
i have a vy calais. Its a v6. I get around 11 or 12 everyday driving.
Check out my old ride!

My 03 VY SS get 16.5 - 17 around town and around 14.5 - 15 on te highway
Heavy on fuel but worth it.
There must be something wrong with mine, i push to get 400kms out of a tank doing town driving, i'm not a lead foot either.
Now that I have had a week of driving and more than a tank go through its looking to be 8.5 per 100km I'm driving 50km round trip on the highway between home and work daily and apart from that just small quick trips to and from my girlfriends which is what pushes my normal 7.5 to 8.5 still sweet as.
I've got a VY II Ex Queensland Police, it's bog stock standard and around the city, when I drive nice in city traffic I'm getting 12, and the best I've got on the freeway, again driving nice and using the cruise was 7.11l/100K @ an average of 111.4Km/h {gotta love digital instrumentation!]
A mate from work has a VY II Berlina and he's got it on gas and he's getting between 400 and 500 Km to a tank, depending on the gas he uses and when he drives. Here in Adelaide there's a gas seller that sells pure Propane for the same cost as normal LPG, he uses that and I used to use it in my 5.0 VS Statesman International before it was written off. I found it was heaps better on the open road using propane rather than normal LPG. All of that in mind I think that with the current fuel prices and the cost of conversion I'd be thinking about leaving mine on petrol...
i would say crap, but i have seen both dads old EA wagon and his current Au wagon have unbelievable gas consumption. MY EB is doin about 12-13l/100 all peakhour as its my work car. (thats an actual calculation not the screen)
My V8 is cheaper to drive fuel wise than my old Ecotec. that tune has well and truly paid for itself.
i changed the way i go to work last week and over the last week and a half, my stock vyss is using 13.6 ltrs per hundred instead of 14.8-15 ltrs/100 a couple of weeks agoand thats in traffic, got a more flowing road, still cross the road i used to take though.
you got to remember james that the VS and VY has the same engine, apart from a little difference in power which was derived from the upgraded ECU the only change to the engine was the position of the PSV and the implementation of EGR.
I guess what im saying is that there will be not heaps of difference between the fuel consumption in any cars with the same engine. The VS will use a little more because the engine will be warn and is unlikely to be running as efficiently as it could. But the vy is also heavier than the vs but is alot nicer to drive too. IF you want spastic economy then maybe look outside the commodore range.
Possibly if you can afford it, have a look into a VZ. The alloytec is a more fuel efficient engine and iv been very impressed with mine since getting it
