off the stock head unit theyll run fine cause the stock 4 chanels in the blaupunkt are 15 watt i think. And runnin 15 watt speakers off em theyll be fine. hook up an amp or after marker head unit will murder the **** out of the holden speakers especially at high frequency. I replaced my front speakers with 210watt jvc 6 inch and 350watt clarion 6x9s and still off the stock head unit its makin good sound. at least till xmas when the folks are buyin me an aftermarker head deck. but yeah these speakers **** all over stock holden ones. ****ty 15watt paper cone things holden give ya.

depends if u abuse em hard with drivin round playin it full blast. a 15 watt speaker in the stock holden. i dont know the rms, but u shove up ur after market deck full blast shovin say 50 watts a chanel i think is normal. ya shove 50 watts into a 15 watt speaker its gonna damage it. the stock speakers coil that is rated at 15 watts. if you jam say like 40 watts or 50 watts into it your gonna heat the coil and melt the **** out of it. hence what they call blowin the speakers. Ive seen a mashed holden stock 15 watter after a mate shoved about 150 watt rms through it and it wasnt in good condition to say the least... lol

The stock speakers are 15rms aren't they?

A 50wx4 aftermarket headunit will struggle to give out even 20wrms per channel.

I blew my front drivers side speaker just by havin the standard stereo turned up too loud! The standard speakers are c##p. I installed 50 watters (i think)in the front and customised the rear parcel shelf and chucked two 50's in there too. Works good except if i have a cd on a higher volume than about 45 everything goes quiet momentarily. Drawing too much power maybe? And yeh the standards are 15 watt.

Its generally clipping that destroys speakers, not power anyway. Even the crap cardboard noisemakers that Holdens come with from factory. Theres probably a higher chance of stuffing them with the stock headunit turned up max than an aftermarket headunit thats 50wx4 because the stock headunit is more likely to send clipping signals to the speakers.

you should adjust your settings if you use around 45 volume. i dont put mine over 15 runnin 225 watt split's and i think 350 watt 6x9's and a sub. but it can be bad. i **** myself thinking sumthings gonna blow when people quickly crank it up over like 20

wow i thought the standard speakers would have been ok with the standard stereo, did it take much to blow the speaker, like constant high volume, how long did it last till it blew?

How loud can you get it before it starts distorting?

It's hard when your starting with a basic cheap system like in the Commo.

I have 13 speakers standard in my GT, sounds absolutely amazing, and would put a lot of aftermarket systems to shame.

Will be hard to go back to a crap sounding system. Will have to work on fixing that

No it wasn't constant high vol, just now and then. The speaker just stopped working, plugged another one in and it worked no prob. It actually did me a favour by blowing, with the ones that are in it now i get a much better sound quality. I'm pretty sure they're 50 watters, got em given to me and just put them in!!
