Hey, i recently bought a 2002 VY executive, 6 grand, awsome buy, no problems nice car, i get my p's in bout 4 months and i am planning to do all the usuals like debadging, lowering it, rims, sound system etc.
the first main thing i want to do is buy a good set of 18's or 19's,
-what colour do you think would suit my silver VY?
-were would the best places be to go for a good set of rims and to get them fitted?
-like i just need help with the hole process of getting rims can someone please explain sorry i dont know much about cars haha i am planning to learn lol
and also when should i get my car lowered, i dont want it to extreme but just enough to look nice, should i get it lowered after i get the rims or before?
cheers, sorry im a bit new to the hole forums and car thing
with the rims talk to some other ppl u know who have bought rims and find the cheapest place i found bridgestone was quite helpful with everythin and i havent bought anythin yet hahaha i like crome on silver some ppl will say it looks crapy but its all u like mate and lower it after u get the rims on 6 grand is really good u bastard hahaah jokes jokes if i was u i would get the door mould things colour coded thats on the outside those strips that go down the side of the car but yeah i think thats everythin i think i ranted on a a little haha
I would go 18's personally. Maybe a nice machined steel look. I would just stay away from chrome but that's just my opinion. Would go King-spring SL's all around. I would also lower after I get the rims.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
19"s are the go. 18" to small and 20" too big.
DO NOT get chrome dinner plate rims, they cheapen the look of your car.
Depending on your state, you will have legal restrictions as to what size wheels you can put on. For example, in VIC, you can go any size rim as long as your rim+tyre combination overall diameter is pretty much the same as your original rim+tyre diameter. You can also only go 1" wider than the widest rim that came out with your car (not necessarily the rims on your car, but the biggest that came out with your model car). Refer to your tyre placard for details of wheel sizes that came out on your car and check up on your state restrictions.

look in the my ride section - VY/VZ will give you heaps of examples.

Yeh thanks for the help, lol 6 grand it seriously was such a good buy ay so lucky, mmm yeh i dont really like them strips either, they look dodgy ay hahaha, would i have to get em coated or would i be able to replace em with silver ones or something, like from holden.
yeah 6 grand u bastard haha lol yeah the strips i would get them colour coded the ones from holden are not made by holden and they cost liek 300 bucks or somethin someone on this site told me that bit i would get the colourcoded i think thats cheap someone correct me if im wrong
gettin them off looks best but is time consuming, get em colourcoded, looks a lot better than black.
VY GTS 19's with cheap rubber so u can still do skids. $200 fo 19" rubber these days
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Where are you located?
Wheels Australia in Ballarat do good prices and have a huge range of new and used rims & tyres.
