Bigger MAF Sensor

I "upgraded" my maf from the stock one to a 69mm one, and it seemed to go a bit better for a while there, but now the car seems to have turned into a 2 stroke, ie rather flat bottom end and crazy top end.
When i disconnected the battery for a few mins today it reverted to how it used to be. What's the problem here?

the computer is calibrated very accurately to the standard maf sensor. Changing the sensor can be dangerous and if itis going to be done should be done as the last thing before a dyno/street tune. Likewise with TB mods.
I suggest that the maf be changed to the stock one till a tune can be performed.

There are many threads on this on the forum and generally it is agreed that there is little to no gain sometimes the vehicle is slower and produces less power and torque.
Due to the incorrect readings being taken by the maf, you also risk damagin engine internals, either through rich or lean fuel mixtures

yep. the computer still needs to be re-calibrated for the transmission shift points. Otherwise the gear placement and changes will be wrong.

how would it affect the shift points in a manual?

Only effects autos for shifts obviously. As for mixtures, get the original back on there quick. The MAF readings will be way out and considering that you're the type to spend money on a bigger MAF I'd be tipping you give the car a hard time too. Easy to damage the thing with bad mixtures.

I changed it back last tuesday, reset the computer and finally got the chance to take it out today. I'd just like to reinforce what these guys have said - my L/100km went up roughly 3-4L Highway, and judging by how much the wheels spin now with the same amount of throttle - i'd say you lose a LOT of power and torque.
