Default VYSS on VE 07 GTS 20" rims???

    Guys,

Im hearing so much crap back and forth about this so I was hoping someone on here has a experience result or some concrete advise.
Holden said dnt, wheel guys said, do it if u want but it will be a bit of a poo storm and its not advised.

Coz of this I let a set of real cheap rims on ebay go on me!

    Whats your thoughts guys?

VE wheels do fit earlier model commodores but you have to get the centers machined out slightly, you can buy wheels already done that will bolt straight up but if you buy wheels straight off a VE you'll have to get them machined.

Someone that's actually done it may have more info although there can't be too many problems using them because there's plenty of people doing it

As stated you need the centres machined so that any VE wheel fits a VY. Only problem with that is it is not really legal, and you may have problems with insurance if you have crash. The other thing is it will be very hard to find genuine VE GTS wheels and they will be bloody expensive too. Copied/replica ones are more readily available, but do some reading around here and you'll hear a lot of people saying not to get replica wheels... they easily crack.

You can only get the replica GTS's that will fit as the originals are 9.5" wide on the rears. good luck fitting that on a VY.. lol!!

I have 20" VE supersports on my VZ.. apparently you can get sleeved wheel nuts that fit in the larger holes of the VE wheels. but a tapered wheel nut will locate them properly anyway.

Biggest thing is tyres. making sure you meet all legalities.
Nangkang do 1 tyre that is 245/30/20 and 95 load rating, I have these on mine.
A lot of people squeeze 225/35/20 on there but to me they are too skinny for an 8" rim and not all meet load rating requirements.

Easy solution is to buy 4 front wheels!

Yeah but 8.5's would fit. Plenty have fitted the genuine item.

    *EDIT* Fronts are 8"

8.5" will fit depending on what size tyres you use and how low the car is, I have 20x8.5's on mine with 235's but there's no way in hell I'd fit a 245 up front with how low my car is and I have coil overs.

It can be done, my brother picked up a cheap set of VE berlina wheels and got the tyre bloke to put them on his VX berlina. The bloke charged $20 a rim to machine the centre.

as for 20" Genuine HSV rims i just love em ( sorry had to brag )

offset would need to be spot on for 8.5" wides!
I personally wouldnt put 235 on an 8.5" rim, I have 245's on my 20 x 8's and they are just nice.

out of interest what profile are your 235's? 35's?

235's actually fit ok, I'd go 245's but with how low my car is I reckon it would rub pretty bad up front, the back would be ok and they're 235x30's
