I've been playing with the idea of upgrading to a V6 calais for a while, a VY because the ecto-tech engine is more LPG friendly then the alloy-tech.
I've been seeing the V6 WK Statesman's are fetching a lower price then the VY Calais... I guess its because they are bulkier.
Who here has the WK Statesman? Or has driven one for a while. I'd love to hear some reviews as to how you find it as an everyday car.
Maybe I should consider the statesman instead of the calais...
I can only comment on my experience with a V8 WL Caprice. The Caprice is nicer than the statesmen but the differences are more cosmetic i think than anything (although the TV's are cool). They are very nice and roomy in the back seats (much more than the calais would be) and are nice to drive. I'm not sure how the V6 would go hauling around a 1.7 tonne car though (probably use more fuel than the effortless 8 would). Personally though, i would take the Calais over the Statesmen. Calais looks a lot neater.. statesmen has too much chrome and is too common i reckon. Go caprice if you can afford, otherwise calais. I'm selling a very clean v8 caprice if your interested

if your going to go lpg run the new LILPGliquid injections ftw
my dad has had statesmans for work and he said the wk was probably the best one he had and was realy nice to drive, he's had statesmans for work cars (shoffer type job) since the wh and has the current one and prefers the wk out of them all, and it looks the best, style wise too, very nice car, comfortable, heaps of leg room, rides nicely, if cheaper and same kays or resnobly close, why not.
My aunt has a V6 statesman and I've driven it a few times. It's a really nice smooth ride but you do need to use your boot more than you would like to get it moving. And obviously because of it's size, it's a bitch to park in tight spaces. I would go the calais over a statesman any day.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
Thanks for the reply people!!!
Its just that the local dealers has a Statesman WK with 75,000 km for under $19,000 with leather and reverse parking sensors. Its not a bad price and comes with a 3 year warranty... I'll test drive it Wednesday night if it ain't sold by then. Only thing missing is a sun roof.
Caprice is much nicer yes, but for one with that amount of KM in Perth, I'd be paying over $25k still. I dont need TVs in the back of my car...

good price for low k's.
I'm gonna look at [if its not sold yet] on the weekend at a WK Caprice with 55,000km for $26,000 firm [from a private seller]. The guy advertised its even got the Holden GPS. I'm gonna call him later today as I don't like calling at 8am in case the dude is still asleep.
I drove a Caprice Wednesday night at a dealer, it was $28k with 75,000km but not looked after, you could tell by a cigarette burn and a smashed rear speaker.
I take back what I said about the Caprice in previous posts... I really like 'em now :-)
