Hi
is it normal for a VY Commodore to blow out white smoke when it's hot?
are u sure its smoke and not steam?

Steam is caused by condensation (like when you start a car on a cold morning) normally doesn't smell.
Smoke is usually caused by burning oil and may have a slight blue tinge to the smoke and definatly smells!
If it's steam then yea, it's normal, if it's oil burning, then it could indicate a BIG problem.
i see cars with steam coming from exhaust pipes on a 40 degree day so it could easily be that. As said oil will have a blue/black colour to the smoke. like when your driving behind that 1980's toyota thats trying to keep up 100km/h on the freeway.

no but try to keep the same weight oil in there for a 150,000 km VY 6 id put a 20W-50 in there. Why not take the car in for its 150,000 service now? 750kms is not going to change anything

Try to stick with the same brand and same viscocity as what was used last. When you start mixing thats when engines dont like it. Also, dont use much, just enough to get you out of trouble a bit. Add maybe a litre and check your smoke if your going to do it that way, and if it comes time to do the service and it's low again or even in 200-300km's you may have a warn/cracked seal (that's not a job most people can do).
