    Default Something draining my battery!

    Allo,

I was hoping someone could help me out. The battery in my 02 VY keeps going flat, and I don't know why. I have replaced the battery 3 times to see if it was just the battery or not, but each battery, including 2 brand new ones does the same thing, the next morning it's dead flat.

I can charge them up fine, but it's not long until they are flat again. I've had someone check my alternator and that's not it either because the alternator is fine.

So something in my car is draining my battery and I have no idea what. I've disconnected the lights in my glove box & boot, kept everything off but with the same result.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice please

Chasing a current draw can be a pain. Placing a multimeter between a disconnected battery terminal & post & noting the current draw while disconnecting individual circuits is a tried & proven method.
If your car is standard in every way the alternator would be the first thing to check. I believe they can still be charging fine while a failed diode drains the battery overnight.
Did they check the alternator for this or just read output voltage?

I'm not sure what they checked, I got my dad to check and he said the alternator is fine. But I asked one of my mates and he told me to go buy a multimeter and he'll check it for me so I think I'll do that.

If you have a test light you could try this.
    Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the positive terminal from the alternator.( make sure it doesnt touch the block etc)
Place the test light in series between the alternator terminal & the post you removed it from on the alternator.
Reconnect the earth terminal on the battery.
If the test light lights up the alternator is shorting to ground.
