drivin home last night and went straight into some water the thing stalled got out to hav a look and the water came in the door when i open it all i can say is hope the insurance fixes the gut full of water she took and replaces the carpets.....
if not how much do ya think it will cost to get the water out the engine....
poor ls1 im sorry.....
Dont argue with idiots cause theyll bring you down to there level and beat you with expereince!!!!!!!
Should we count you out for the Mt Nebo cruise then?
Sorry I can't be of any help, I wouldn't know about the insurance, nor what it'll take to get it fixed. You could always do a complete teardown yourself I guess, might as well check and replace anything that needs replacing when you do.. Do a service on it yourself heh. Only if you had the knowledge, tools and willpower to do it though.
BTW You might want to PM a mod and ask them to move this thread to either the LS1 subforum, or maybe just the general commodore section. You'll get a lot more views that waw, might get some useful replies.
Did you have to get it towed? or did she fire up again?
As for the carpets - pull the seats and carpet out as soon as you can. If the insurance says it's OK to do so. The carpet and under lay should dry out OK - but it will need to be out of the car.
As for water in the engine- never a good thing. If the water has made it all the way into the combustion chamber - bent rods can be a possibility as the water doesn't compress like gas.

A friend had water over the roof of his beemer a few years ago when a basement carpark flooded. Insurance fixed it no probs. Took about 3 months to get the car back though.

First thing to do, get under the car and pop the bungs in the footwells, this will give you a head start at getting the water out. If it's ok with your insurance company, take the plugs out of the heads and wind it over, either by hand or crank it. Then once the water is out, spray a heap of WD-40 into each combustion chamber and wind over a little. That has fixed cars in the past, presuming you havent bent rods or valves. But the longer it has been left, gets worse all the time, as water gets into the oil galleries and sump. Fat lady has sung.
yeah i was gonna suggest the same. take plugs out, try crank it by hand. then i would change just above everything on the engine, oil, plugs, etc.

You might find that the insurance won't cover situations where someone drives into deep surface water. Considered to be a bad driver decision. Not their loss.
might pay to crank it with the plugs out - don't know enough about these engines to know it that does any other harm but at least it might move some of the water to a more respectable place.

Mate killed his Munro like that... sad sad story. Insurance did pick it up though.
i believe water damage is usually repaired unless it is saltwater - i'm of the belief that if you flood with saltwater it's an instant write-off. (someone might confirm my thought)
i thought all water was a write off,
if its pumping water out the pipes its a good sign, as said pull the plugs, pump the water out, spray into the cylinders generously with wd40 or rost off etc, spray some carby cleaner on the maf sensor if you still have it, replace the air filter if neccessary, replace the engine oil and filter,
when you crank it over with out the plugs in, disconnect all the coils so you cant damage them

Good to hear that you are getting it back and that it wasn't a write off. Good lesson to others in a similar situation - don't risk it!
umm, I would have rathered it be a write off.
all the wiring has gotten wet, the water will seep in the ends of the cables where the connectors are, and in a few years time, the copper will have corroded so badly that things will just fail.
yeah its all good the next owner will hate me..
