If your going to just tap into the wires, you can use wire taps from any good electrical store (hell, even my Dick Smith stores have them). But make sure you tap the wire from the High Beam relay in the engine bay. And make sure you fuse the link before your spot lights. It's not the best way of doing it, but it can be done. To do it properly you will need to use a new relay and wire the trigger with the other high beam relay trigger ground (if that makes sense). That way the new driving lights have the correct fuse on them from the battery and so do the high beams (the other way CAN blow the fuse for the high beams).

I have a quick question i have purchased a VY Berlina series one which does not have drivng lights or fog lights but i believe the previous owner installed this onw as there is two plugs one on each side coming from the headlights and under the dash their is two red wires that have been joined to together by a thicker red wire which runs under the fuse relay in the engine bay. if this is correct can i swao the swicth to turn the lights on and off or should i get the thing checked out ?

No problem steve40. I'm glad the diagram worked for you, because looking at the diagram now i put the numbers in the wrong points on the key to the right! But that's the beauty of digrams, they should be easy to understand. I'll fix the digram up in the next few days and repost it for anyone that wants it in future.

sir_italia, you'll need to use testing equipment to find out for sure. There could be many purposes for cables joining to other cables. Best thing would be to check with a multimeter or a test light.

When wiring lights etc make sure that you always have adequate fuses and a relay to do the actual switching. It is also adviseable to have an additional switch accessible from the driver's eat to also switch the d/'s off as you don't always want them coming on eact time you use high beam - especiall around built-up areas etc. Remember, late model Commodores are N E G A T I V E SWITCHING not POSITIVE.
