umm, I thought they bolted to the strut top using the existing studs and nuts for the strut?

The studs are existing but I know on mine the nuts are AWOL.. Cant tell you what size it is though as I have the brace also and never got around to fitting it cause i couldnt figure out what size the nuts needed to be. A phone call or 2 would probably sort it, but eh slack.

depends, i know most cars iv worked on, hondas and alfa romeos are 17mm nuts and suitable bolts to fit the 17mm nut, use a washer and a spring washer between the nut and the top of the strut tower and a washer between the bolt head and the strut tower underside, should be ok to drill, as long as you don't drill bigger than the bolt u should be ok and make sure that ur marks are spot on before you drill, good luck with it, hope that helps a bit.
