Default Horn goes off for no reason?

I got a 2004 vy executive and my horn goes off either when im doing a u-turn and full locking my steering wheel, or in really hot weather. It was out in the 40degree sun and my horn goes off and my keyless entry doesnt work when it happens, i have to open my doors manualy and press the horn then it shuts up. Have any of u had this problem?

Sounds like something is earthing in your streering colunm, IM not sure but if you have the factory alarm system in the vy that uses the horns ,but if you do this usualy goes through the BCM,which migth be causing the keyless entry promblems, or possible your BCM OR Alarm system mybe malfunctioning

    Default Horn problem.

Hi I have a 2003 vy S Commodore and recently my horn has come on for no reason. Once at midnight and once in early morning. Both times when car is locked up. It's a constant sound, not intermittent like the alarm. First time it turned off when I popped the bonnet but second time I had to pull the relay switch out. The keyless entry didn't work while the horn was going either.
If you find a reason let me know, or if anyone out there has any clues I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to avoid taking it to a dealer $$$$. Thanks.

There's a barcode sticker on the inside castings of the steering wheel - the label itself is made of aluminium, and over the years one side of it can peel up. When it curls up far enough, it touches the horn contact on the back of the airbag assembly, and because the label is metallic it sorts the horn contact to ground.

Easy to fix, just pop the airbag off and rip out the label! You don't have to unplug the airbag, just pop it out of the retaining clips and lift it away far enough to tear off the label. Then just pop it straight back in! Problem fixed - less than 10 minutes work, and won't cost you a razoo.

(have a search around the VY or VZ threads - there was a bloke asking about how to remove the airbag for exactly the same problem - I wrote up a bit of a how-to in that thread, so I'm not doing it again!)
