Hey guys, I have a question regarding your experience and knowledge with Extractors and Cats for a VY II SS.
I currently have the Sureflo medium 3.5" cat back for it.
What I am looking at getting in the coming month is a DUS OTRCAI and Oztrack tune, which should lift the slug to an acceptable performance.
My enquiry is before the tune I would like to fit some new Extractors and Cats. I was looking at Pacemaker etc, but there are long, short, tri Y, 4 into 1, extension leads, no extensions etc etc, and the same with cats.
$2k seems a bit steep to me for pacies, and cats and pipes to hook up to my original system. Does anyone reccomend these or other brands or places to do the work?
Will it make that much of a difference in sound / performance over my stock front section when I get the tune, or will it be very minor?
Will it change the note, louder/quiter/tougher?
Sorry for the newb questions, I have come from turbos and dump pipes, this whole extractor and cat thing is new to me so your comments would be appreciated.
I just don't want to waste money on something that really doesn't need doing, that wont chnage the note or performance.
Thanks in advance guys![]()
Hey skooby!
I think I remember you from Ozlib no?
Most people recomend 4-1 extractors. Extension leads, I presume you mean an extension loom for an 02 sensor?
Personally I purchased an X-force twin 2.5" cat-back and I'll be moving onto some 4-1 extractors and cats in the new year.
I've looked at HM short extractors, which will bolt up to your original cats. And also a Difillipo system. Which will requier a patch loom for the o2 sensor, but still looks like it will bolt up to the catback system I already have.
The extractors will make a major difference to the sound. They wont really make it louder though. Thats dictated by the mufflers obviously.
The extractors and Cats will make more difference than the catback system will. From what I've read on here some people have reported a 40rwhp gains with a well sorted system and tune.

I run the HM shorties. Great sound plus you can use your factory cats as mentioned above.
You won't get much change out of $2k for Pacey 4-1's and hi flow cats. But the Pacey setup is all bolt on stuff. You will need the O2 sensor extensions though on the VYII when using Pacey tuned.
As an example, I do the 4-1's and hi flows for $1600 including the extensions. Where abouts are you?
sorry to hijack, but are these any good? im not chasing huge power figures..

They're the HM "Shorties".
As Juzo has said, they're not a bad item.
They are just basically a replacement manifold. You probably won't gain anything from them.
