Hello, just a quick question here..
I have accidently ended up with Ultra low King springs in the front of my VY exec sedan rather than superlow (what I wanted) and its riding on the shocks 100% of the time causing a very hard ride... So
if i take the Ultra low's out (doing that now) and put superlows in, will I have any suspension on standard struts at all? even 10mm? Or would superlows also sit hard on botton of shocky. Im only after 10mm of shocky, im not generally a greedy dude
the bump stops are around 50mm tall, im also wondering if its not worth maybe cutting one in half and putting half back in each side ..??
I have searched for a while on here to find the exact answer to this question, sorry to have to make yet another lowered suspension thread !..
cheers ..![]()
My advice is that you change the struts being as you are go so low. if you were only going down to FE2 level you would be ok but super lows are too low for standard struts and will cause you more issues in the long run if you dont change them. For starters they will wear out very quickly.
Yeah thanks for your advice, but im really just wondering if superlows sit hard right down on the shocky or have you some suspension - on a standard strut..
Someone out there must have superlows in with standard struts, they will know if the car sits hard on the shockys or not.. With ultralows the car is HARD on the shocks, can not push the front of car down AT ALL.. its solid as a rock !!..
I would be happy with 10mm![]()
some say the short struts in lowerd cars make for a even worse ride than standards. plus im really trying to avoid spending any more $$ on the car, also trying NOT to put it back to standard height.
I have short rear shocks but trying to keep the old FE2 Front inners as long as i can coz I dont have another $350 to throw at it just for it to ride basically the same anyway..
SO ... anyone got superlows on standard dampers ? VT to VY ??/...
im not after "advice".. more seeking answers from people who have been there & done it !
gotta mate with a vx lumina, and thats about the same height as your vy exec. he has got superlows all 4 corners and thats fine, apart from being a tight ride its not sitting on the shocks. There is SOME suspension. I'd say grab a pair of superlows.
C@l@is,
Ive got no clearance issues in my VY with superlows all round with standard front struts bit rough but hai handles better so cant complain....
Cheers
Ive got a VY 02 exe wagon with superlows up front and sedan superlows in the rear which sit lower then wagon superlows. the ride is tight (hate train tracks) but goes around corners easily.
excellent thanks people, exactly the input I was after. i have just finished putting the superlows in, will take it off the jack stands and take it for a drive after I finish my coffee =-)
Just picked up a set of VN wagon rear shocks out of my shed & they look almost the same at the VY sedan shocks but 3 to 4 inches shorter !.. might be on a winner there !
yeah heaps better, basically sits the same as ultra's or maybe 5mm difference if that, but the shocky is working again now so thats great, very happy about the swap !
Now all I gota do tomorrow is swap the rear SL coils for SSL & put the short shocks in, coz its up maybe 10mm in the rear compaired to front, and we cant have that now can we !!..
Thanks again peoples
