NEED HIGH PERFORMANCE
I really need ideas on how to realy work the **** out of my engine.
Cost isnt really an issue, ALL SOLUTIONS PLEASE!
Although im not going to be turbocharging it or supercharging it regadless.
Trying to get it to be the quickest it could really be, and ide rather not have to get the engine pulled out of the car to be worked on, but if thats what i have to do then so be it.
CHEERS.
Your not really going to get a heck of alot out of it without adding something serious.
I'd recommend just getting like the stage 1 raptor supercharger.
port/polish heads,Crow cam, pacemakers, 2 &1/2 inch straight through exhaust system, high flow cat, larger injectors, high flow fuel pump, shift kitted auto, some quicker diff gears, and a dyno tune!

Can I ask why you want to throw bucket loads of cash at a V6?
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
If you want huge performance the V8 would be the better platform.
The fact that you have gone V6 means you want the car to boogy on the street but it will not be a performance king.
All of the above mods suggested are good and will certainly make the car run a bit quicker. raptor SC is good, but you will need the extractors with high flow cats and a free flowing exhaust. RR's 1.9 as suggest are also good, mild cam is better. Tougher valve springs if you are going to be upping the rev limiter. The tune to extract as much out of what you have is a must.
if you arent goin to use forced induction on the V6 you may as well give your money to the homeless.. cos your only goin to be wasting it..
if he wants to do it let him dont give him shit about doing it maybe he wants to just let it go if u want to add somethin help the poor guy out
3.46 or 3.73 diff gears auto or manual will give a big improvment and money well spent.

We're only saying not to do it because it will cost a fortune to get a car that still isn't very fast. If anything we're doing him a favour. Having said that, if he wants to do it, go ahead. None of us will stop you. There was a twin TB s/c v6 here once and we loved that car. Would have cost the bloke a truck load but it was a very nice car.
We're just saying that you'll get a nice car but not an awesome head turner.

Transplant an alloytech?
Seems like the most sensible option for a V6 build if money is no problem.
Considering he's only posted once, I'd assume he's a bored 13yr old on school holidays.
the only reason im going for the 6 and not TB OR SUPERCHarging it IS BECAUSE IM ON p plates mate.
but if ur sayen the alloytec is a better engine to do up ill probly sell mine nd get one of them.....i just want a quik p plate car cause i cant drive anythen with performance till im 25 because of laws so i gotta work the *** out of what ive got.
thanks for the info though, really needed sum ideas
why do you have to wait till you're 25? if you do your p's right it should only last 3 years. That gives you 3 years to save up for something like a VE SS without going ahead and wasting $1000's on something that you're not going to be impressed with. The proven formula for these is exhaust, cai, rockers and a charger of some sort.
Mate I'm only a learner driver so I know what it's like with performance mods. Just save up some cash and buy yourself a v8 once your off your p's. No point in spending money that you won't be able to re-coup for when you do want that big v8.

I agree with Duk13y,
being positive it will give you time to get dollars together and plan your ultimate project. For us oldies we just spent money willy nilly on mods then wished we had saved up some real moola to do the car of our dreams.
Seriously though the V6's are fun but if you are after what you call HIGH PERFORMANCE then the later V8 range of commodores is the way to go.
quick breakdown for you
$300 - 400 for a bought CAI or mod your current and run 2nd pipe to draw cooler air.
$1000 for YT Roller rocker kit and tougher valve springs
$1000 - $1500 for extractors high flow CAT and 2.5inch free flowing exhaust.
$500 - $1500 for LSD diff (cheaper price if you get a 2nd hand one from a wreckers) it will cost you more if you want to change the ratio of the diff, 3.73 - 3.9 would be the ratio of choice. add at least another $600 depending on where you go for the internals and fitting.
heavy duty clutch for a manual /stage 2 shift kit for the auto with an installed trans cooler. I won't quote cost here for those cause the price varies considerably. But consider for the auto to be built tough approx $2000 - $3000.
Definately cheaper options if you find 2nd hand stuff or have the knack to do a lot of the work yourself. V6 NA will never be real fast with the Ecotec. V6 with forced induction can be real fast but it is the more expensive road to travel for real performance.
Hi,
Like you, I am doing up a project VR V6 Spak for my Daughter and was told by a mechanic that Qld Transport has an upper limit of 198Klws for P Platers in QLD????
Is this the case??
What about other states?
NSW won't allow any performance mods what so ever.

which is why my ute's completely stock...![]()
Here's what you do,
Buy a fake moustache, join a respected car club and only do charity runs, don't wear your P's, never drive at night. transpant the V8 into your current ride, add a Gen 1000 turbo (good for around 400rwkw).
Oh and keep a good solicitor on standby.
