ive found the ute i want, but it has black leather seats.
one question about them, in summer are they boiling hot after being left in the sun for a while?? aswell as in winter, are they freezing cold?
that seems to be the only downfall with leather.

pretty much yeh... being black they will heat up a fair bit in summer... i have beige lether in mine and even that can get quite hot if left in the sun
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Yeah my mate has a CV8R monaro with the beige leather and he said he got in the other day and it was extremely hot..one thing id like to know is, is it just instantly hot and only lasts for say 20 seconds then once your driving, used to it and the air con is on or whatever its sweet?
Also are your windows tinted? Would that help a bit do you think?

yeh they do cool down after you sit in them for a while, my windows arnt tinted, yet, so that will help alot too, if yours has tinted windows they might not heat up anywhere near as much

buy it and remove the leather seats.
replace with some cloth seats.
when you sell the ute, put the leather seats back in and it'll get more value.
problem solved.
but then you dont have the comfort of the leather... after i shampoo my leather it feels so good to sit in! cloth just feels shit
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Or if your not planning on selling the ute... sell the seats... there is alwasy someone looking for leather seats... black in particular.
Good Luck
True, they would sell easy but I want to keep them, just seeing what the view is on the temperature of them!

You'd be nuts to sell the leather and put in cloth.

They can get hot, but it doesn't last. Sit down, wind down the window / pump the aircon and you forget all about it.
just chuck seat covers on during summer?
I have had leather seats since early 2004 and they are great. Tint the windows and if it is mega hot I put a towel etc on the seat before it is left in the sun. Move the towel and everything is great.
Reaper
Yeah thats a good idea, chuck a towel or something on the seats just for the times you're in the sun.
Dont want to put on seat covers though, thanks.

yeah dont get me wrong leathers grouse. But look not to **** anyone off i just think that its common sense that leather will get warm in summer. I mean I got a windsheild cover cause 8 hours in direct sun at a dusty construction site makes the car that hot I can barely touch the steering wheel.
yeh like said get a windscreen cover and some throw over seat covers for summer and will be fine, also does anyone know what a full set of leather seats for a vy ss sedan and door inserts go for in black leather?
Maybe get one of them sliver front window covers?

lol, all good, plus will save the dash a bit too from sun damage with the windscreen sheild on up against the front/back of the dash
They're good even without leather, keeps the steering wheel cool, and stops the dash becoming a hot-plate.
