im thinking bout taking my cats off and smashing the middle out of em so there not restrictive.. has anyone done this? and did u notice improvement?
go out and buy a high flow cat. otherwise, bash it out, then go park in front of a police car, and let them send your car off to the epa, where they can issue you a nice big fine for having a bashed out cat.
high flow cats are restrictive and besides they dont do emission test in whyalla anyways
what sort of motor is this for? high flow cats tend to be more than enough for any street driven car
i dont think the RSPCA will be too happy about you doing that to a cat

its gonna be on my vy s2 spack
dunno wats ur name bro
also to contribute to the thread,.
your car looks like a stock vy, probably v6, you will have next to no gain by bashing them out. get some high flows from paul jagt (jagt muffler). slightly expensive yes, but beats a 10,000dollar fine. :P

got a panther mica vs clubsport parked on elliott street every day.
and a white and silver vn calais.
s pack. so its a v6? what on earth are you doing to the engine that makes a high flow cat restrictive?

i havent done anything to the engine the stock cats are restrictive. high flow cats r still restrictive
so is the stock 2.25" exhaust system, why not just rip the whole system off while you're under there?
any cat converter is going to be restrictive to a point, it does have a job to do
there are far more restrictions on your standard motor to even think about changing cats yet.
get yourself an air intake, some good leads, and a 2.5" exhaust catback. the cat still will not be restricting it at this stage.
im getting an exhaust next week or the week after, i have put a hole in the air box with a 90 degree elbow to suck from behind the headlight. u reckon the leads
Not sure how true it is but in an issue of street commodores no.145 it said the fines for a knocked out cat were up to 33 thousand dollars in NSW. Your probably looking at 300 bucks each for a decent hi flow so its money well spent.
youve already got a start, go for a high flow air filter also, something like a lukey dry or a k&n oiled, both are good, and get yourself a set of topgun leads.
i honestly wouldnt worry about getting highflow cats just yet, and i wouldnt even consider knocing the guts out with a screwdriver at all.
once your exhaust is done, a decent air filter, and some nice leads, you can then look at extractors and cats.![]()
yeah i got a high flow filter k&n oiled filter
i wouldnt rise bashing out the CAT u say your in whyalla and u think u wont get done ok fair enough but your telling me your not gonna travel to adelaide at some point or anywhere else and if you get done massive fine bro
Main thing about bashing out a cat converter is that it sounds CRAP afterward. If you want to amplify the shitty v6 sound and make it "tinny" then go ahead.
Can someone also please explain to me how changing HT leads(considering there is nothing wrong with the stock ones) will improve power?
Unless you have very high voltage output coils, the stock ones will work fine.
