Default Wagons... VY Berlina V8 or VZ Acclaim?

    Hey all,

Im considering a wagon, and ive always wanted a V8 but ive heard some bad news on GEN 3's having knock issues etc. Ive seen that you can buy VY1Berlina V8 wagons for about 14k to 15k and you can buy a VZ acclaim for that price too. Both decent k's etc.

Im after reliability first and foremost as current car is a good friend of the mechanics having been there so many bloody times.

As said, ive always wanted a V8 and I guess now better than ever, whilst I dont have kids or arent married yet

Just after everyones advice. Ive read through the VY Common issues but id like your thoughts on both these cars.

    Thanks

Don't stress about the gen 3 knock, it was pretty much sorted by the time the vy's came out. Berlina V8 wagon would be the choice for me, just my opinion.

So V8 in Berlina is just as reliable? Transmission wise etc? Ive heard some people say V8 guzzles way more than 6, then others say its comparable.. I guess just that V8 sound is worth more than anything

Yeah mate no worries. Don't believe people that tell you that they use way more fuel because it's crap. This is my second one and both have been excellent on fuel. On a trip my ss is excellent, averaging 8.7 litres/100 klms.

V8 FTW. Why go for less of a car when they're both the same price imo.

If you look hard enough you will find bad news about every mass produced car. I had 2 GenIII's with zero ill effects. Do the normal checks when you buy any car and you should be fine. My last GenIII was a VYII SS and overall it was a very reliable car. Can't fault it.

Go for the berlina, but make sure you get a series 2.
