Default 20's on a VY Commodore?

    Hey guys,

been wondering for a while what to do, wether it be 20's on the VY or 19's and lowered

would i have much hassel sticking 20's in with lovells lows?..and lowered shocks?..

from what ive seen they look great but dunno wether they will give more hassel then they are worth..

    any opinions wanted,

    thanks guys

mate i got 20s on my vy ss ute and they are a huge hassle, i am constantly checking air pressure so they wont buckle have had them for a few years now and already had to get the buckles from potholes hammered out three times. They look awesome but next set will be 19s for sure. Also tyres are hugely expensive for the 20s, my yokohamas are 650 bucks EACH!!!! My opinion go for 18 or 19s then get it lowered

hmmm.. touchy subject.. You'll get a 1000 different answers if you ask 1000 different people,

I have 20's on my VY Sedan, with lovells lows i think, it looks good..

Wasnt a real hassel to fit them, I have rolled the rear guards though to prevent rubbing,
BUT I have also had my rims repaired once, did the full set about 2 years ago, and the fronts need doing again - big flat spots, about $100 a rim more if its badly damaged.. and i've been getting a bit of tyre wear on the inside edge of the rear tyres - from the camber, Im currently thinking whether to put a camber kit in atm.. although im not sure if 19's would help this much - its how low you go aswell..

It really depends on what you want, I wanted 20's so i got them, and was prepared to pay for the rest.. NO REGRETS... I only pay $260 for NEXEN's they hang on in the wet like shit to a blanky, so that aint too bad imo.. and got quoted $220 yesterday - not too sure on the brand though. supposed to be good in the wet..

But if its going to be more of a cruise'ing car that you want, with cheaper tyres, I'd probly go with the 19's or even 18's but imho I think they look a little small.. thats why I went 20's.. and I was paying about $220 for 18 inch rubber anyway..

Whatever you throw on there it'l look better than stock imo, so go for it, n goodluck with 'em

yeh thats what i thought, that anything like 19's looked a bit small, but it is going to be a car regularly used, have always wanted to go straight to 20's, didnt want to get 19's and regret not having 20's

if the repairs are only around 100 each time i guess that aint too bad, i would be careful with them anyway,

    still dont kno hahaha

    thanks guys

    It's a bit crazy when 19's seem a bit small isn't it...
I've got 19's on the ute - they look good.
I suppose it depends on where you drive - i cruise on dirt roads with pot holes and haven't had a problem with mine, in fact if you drive to the conditions 20's arent a worry either.
    20's do look awesome though.

mate i've got 20'' on my VY R8 and have had them for four years now and have never had a problem, make sure you run 35 series tyres not 30's, i had 245 hankook ventis tyres all around and the rears only just rubbed, i now have toyo proxie 4's 235 on the front 245 rear and the rears rub a bit more than the hankooks as the sidewall is a lot straighter

    heyy ASLYVY,

The 35 series, is to do with the tyre profile, how tall the sidewall is on your tyre in relation to tyre width, pretty sure.. 30 being a smaller tyre - lower profile - hence more likely to damage rim, because theres not as much rubber in between the rim and the road..!

Throw up a photo of the rims you go with!!

yerr ok thats fine, didnt want to go too low profile on 20's anyway

well ive got four options here you guys, let me know what you's think

    http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...chrome_20s.jpg
these ones come in black also with polished lip

    http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...defiant20s.jpg
more racey style look, but look grouse fitted

    http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u..._black_20s.jpg
these are a good mix of silver/chrome and black

    http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...ack_mf_20s.jpg
    im loving the ROH Prowlers

these are all through the tyre factory and they want $2200 wheels and tyres fitted and balanced, but before going further ill go in and have a good look at the wheels and the tyre brand, size, etc

let me know what you think

ahh yeah, I've always liked the first ones, was going to get them before i got my other ones.. they look nice imo..

the last ones - a mates got them on a VT, I think in 19's but, they look alright but not for me,

In the end its probly best to get the ones that you like the most, and don't really worry about what other people like, because you've gotta look at them everyday, and everyone's got a different opinion on what looks good..

Really any of them would look good.. when you go down there next, get them to sit one of each up against you car, so you can sort-of see what its going to look like..
