The LS1 seems to be sensitive to oil type for some
reason. And what is good for one, doesn't necessarily
work for another. I have been running Mobil 1 5w-50
for about 10,000k know and apart from some minor
lifter noise for about 60 seconds at startup it is as
quiet as a mouse. I would do exactly as you said
and go back to your previous oil, although in saying
that, If you are still under warranty straying away
from the recommended 10w30 could give holden
an excuse to void your warranty.
