    Default Communications Fit Out

    Hi guys & girls,

Was just wondering if you lovely people would be able to help out another Holden fan.

Anyone who has some time of communications gear in their VY/VZ sedan, please take some pictures and post them in here.

I'm needing some ideas and shots of what installs might look like.

I'm wanting to try and stay away from destroying the vehicles with holes and stuff everywhere. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent, exactly what I was asking for.

I do however ask that more of you please post your installs.

By the way, i'd love to know more about where you have mounted your base units, etc (just as AndyMan has).

Also pics of where and how you have wired up your power and earth connections.

    Thanks heaps..

    Keep em comin...

I can't post pics of mine, my communication system atm is a handheld in the centre console with the remote speaker mic from the handheld under the centre console lid to where the drink holders are. I will be doing my system in future.

However i'm looking at spending the little extra and getting the Uniden unit with the remote control on the speaker mic. That way i can put the unit anywhere i want and just use the mix to change channels and everything. So either the main unit will sit under the panels or in the boot. Whichever is more convenient for me to do!

Well, since you've got a sedan put the aerial on the boot lip (same place as undercover cops). Not in your driving view then!

mines simple, i taped into the accessory wire in the patch harness i made for my head unit, ran it to the engine bay, wired up a relay then ran the positive and negate back through to under the seat,

so, the uhf work on the accessory control, i.e power stays on untill i open the drivers door, also ensures i dont accidentally leave it turned on

AndyMan: Could i get some assistance from you with the wiring?
Have you got some pics you could show me of the wiring side of your setup (to the power supply etc).

    Barbados Blue VZ Wagon

    see pictures of the relay,

its not much more than what i allready said, + and - with a fuse runs from battery to fuse to relay, + and - from relay go to the main unit under the seat, accessory wire from the headunit runs to the relay to switch it on and off
