vy berlina v8, not starting

I need some advice, our vy v8 berlina 03 is not starting, we have had to lock and unlock before starting and the car would go, if we didnt lock/unlock it would start then die, and if you tried again, absolutely nothing,, so on friday the key died, we had the key replaced, but to get the key programmed we have to start the car...... not happening, it obviously doesnt lock/unlock till its programmed,
If anyone has any ideas on what could be wrong, i would love to hear from you, thank you!

Could be something to do with the remote receiver for the key in the car, which is not responding with the key signal being sent to the car, hence why the car will start then die or not start at all!
