Default radio phone input for GPS voice directions

    I have a VYII 3.8 acclaim.
    Tomtom GPS

Ideally I would like voice guidance directions to go via the Tomtom line out (Stereo RCA outputs (But I doubt that the voice output is in stereo, mono is fine for voice anyway)) and into my standard Blaupunkt radio.

I was planning to use the radios mobile phone input.

    My questions are:

Should I be using the mobile phone input?

I have a stereo RCA to 3.5mm stereo male jack plug cable. I assume that i have to cut off the plug and wire into the mobile phone input.
How should I rewire (i.e. stereo to mono) my cable and conect it to the radio phone input (if that's the right way to go)?

How do I hanhle the radio mute?

The mobile phone input in the VY's are only mono anyways. If you check the details in your owners manual it actually tells you quite a bit about it! Im fairly sure it handles the mute by itself too.

I assume that the radio input is used via the connector taped to the wiring harness in the passenger footwell.

I've looked in the manual, it doesn't mention any alternative inputs (i.e. jack plug)

The socket is a special holden part, I was looikg for directions on how to connect the stereo output from my PS unit to the mono phone input, I'm happy to cut the Holden socket off, just need to know which wires to conect (GPS to Radio input)

    VY/VZ BLUETOOTH CONNECTOR PINOUTS

    Pin Wire colour Function

    1 Orange 12V Batt
    2 Black/Green 0V Gnd
    3 Yellow 12V Acc
4 Yellow/black Mute signal (Active Low)
    5 Blue/black Audio -
    6 Blue Audio +

Ground the "Mute Signal" input, and the head unit will go into "Voice In" mode, and the signal appearing at the Audio + and - terminals is fed through the system. Adjust the volume control to suit. (this is independent of the normal music volume, and the unit "remembers" where you set it - so even if the volume for the music is turned down - or even off - the voice input will still be at the volume you last set it at - clever, huh?)

    Default switched ground

So should I put in a relay to give a switched ground (to put the radio into "Voice In" mode) that is activated by the audio output?? (will the audio signal be strong enough to activate/switch the relay??)

The GPS output is currently just left and right RCA plugs (DO I common the channels together to give me a mono input for the radio.

I have already located a switched live for the GPS power.

    5 Blue/black Audio - Audio ground
6 Blue Audio + Audio Active (L + R from GPS output commoned together to give a single mono input)
