Default Calais Kit on an Exec - What needs changing?

Im looking at putting a Calais kit on my VY Executive, and simply enough am just wondering what needs changing? Is it just as simple as removing the stock kit and putting the Calais one on, or do i have to change the front guards or anything like that?

    Thanks.

Do you only want your Exec to look like a Calais externally? And are you talking about a Series 1 or Series 2 Calais? The changes are very extensive (and expensive), particularly with the Series 2 - with car prices these days, you would be much better off to trade the Exec on a Calais. Also

Externally changed parts for the VY Series 2 from Exec are:

Front: bumper facia, headlights, upper grille(2 parts), lower grille, foglights
Side: Sill panels, door protector moulds, window surround , wheels
Rear: Bumper facia, bumper insert and reflectors, tail-lights, number plate surround, lower rear three quarter sill extensions.

All up cost of these parts would be close to $3000 and you would still only have a dresed up Exec. Far better to trade on the Calais - the interior is even more expensive and there is a hell of a lot of gear you don't get in the Exec.

Tol do the job properly, you need every part I have listed. Also, the exhaust outlet was styled to suit the rear bumper, so you would need to replace that as well. If you leave anything off, it won't look like a Calais.

As I said, it's very exxy.

I have updated my Berlina to look as close as possible to a Calais and still havent done a few things. Despite this, it has still cost me nearly $2800 in new parts and I didn't replace the front bumper or door sills, both of which are expensive.

To fit the Calais rear lights, you have to change the bumper as well. because the Calais lights are deeper and the bumper is shortened at the ends.

If you like, I can give you some idea of the price of many of the parts you need.

The Series ii Calais taillights fit straight in to your Berlina. I purchased mine trade from the local Holden dealer for $147 each., then sold the Berlina lights for half that on E-bay.

The bumper insert comprises the two reflectors and the black panel between them. All up cost was about $100. There are some mods needed to fit the strip. You have to remove the bumper to get the old strip off - it's held on by about twenty metal clips. The reflectors need 2 new holes drilled on each side and screws are used to hold them on. The black strip will fit back into the recess and uses some of the clips from your old strip.

Ok thanks. Can I just buy the reflectors and put them onto my existing insert?

Yep, I think you could. The Calais insert is thinner at each end to accommodate the reflectors, but if you just cut your existing insert at each end, you could leave it in and fit the reflectors after drilling the two holes. You will still need to remove the bumper, then take the existing trim out to cut it. You will have plenty of clips left over - I don't know why they used so many.

You won't be able to just fit the reflectors without cutting your existing insert. (well, you could, but it would look crappy)
