hi guys. Just bought a 03/2003 vy commodore. the previous owner has put an original VY- SS body kit on it including the rims (receipts were in the log book). The car has had the original badging removed. I want to know if it is a stock standard Commodore or a Commodore-S. It has power windows front and back, traction control and power button. could some help shed some light plz??
You probably wont know if it doesnt say in the build plate.
an S pac came with SS body kit standard.
Does it have a leather steering wheel, that isnt the SS one
If it's an S-pack the build plate should say FE2 suspension, if it's an exec, it won't.

this link is for the redbook stats on the standard exec. i noticed it doesnt have traction control or full power windows (even as an extra option)

this second link is for the S series, where it does have those options which my car has. The VIN number is the same for both models, so thats no use. I will check the build plate when i get the car back tommorow, for that suspension. At the moment its at the work shop getting LPG put into it
ive checked on THE REDBOOK site and it says that the standard exec doesnt have FULL power windows or traction control (even as an additional option)
but when i check the S series, it has both the p.windows and t.control.. i checked the VIN numbers for both, and they are exactly the same... bumber!
maybe an acclaim?
the dash will also be different in the s than the standard models unless that has been changed
just contacted holden dealer, they say they cant tell specific models from VIN numbers anymore (something about the system has changed) but from description they said its either an Acclaim or an exec with 'special options'..
my vx acclaim has traction, power button, and front and rear power windows, so id say its an acclaim
Wouldn't a "S" Pak be supercharged?

here are some pics... let me know what you think
I reckon those are Exec seats. If it was a genuine S most people wouldn't bother putting an SS kit on it
Still, why don't you just spend 5mins on the phone to Holden, and find out?? They don't bite.

no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
i have rung holden head office and ended up speaking to a girl who sounded a bit lost, all she said was it was an exec but unsure which specific model.
Also rung the holden dealer where the car has been serviced for the past 4 years, and spoke to warranty and service and they say its in their system as an Acclaim!
btw since the previous owner has spent the $$ on the kit and rims, whats left for it to be same as an S? besides trim
On the S the rubber side stripes were an option and were colour coded.
