    Default CAI Ideas

Hey guys i'm after some ideas for my CAI

I used to have a K&N pod filter in replace of the airbox - which made it sound a touch beefier. But apparently with LPG you need to have a closed box intake.

..Something about a hose which grabs the excess LPG gas and puts it back through the air intake. I really don't know, but i can see a new hose thats connected to the intake above the radiator.

What can i do to make my CAI, A) more effeciate in taking more cold air
and B) make my car sound a bit more beef.

    Thanks

Do you have gas injection? The hose that goes to the intake, is it a fairly think one? About 30 or so mm diameter? If you don't have injection then that is the main gas feed line. It feeds the gas into the intake. Should be just after the throttle body?

Yeah, it's not a gas injected system. So what does that mean i can do as far as changing the CAI? or even a 2nd hole mod..

Basically you can do what you want on the filter side of the MAF as long as you keep the intake temp sensor in the plumbing. But from experience and from what a lot of people have done, a CAI of any kind won't really do much except improve throttle response a small amount. The problem is where the air comes from, there aren't a lot of options on a Commodore unless you have a forward facing pipe in one of the bumper vents. You just need to keep the air temperature going into the intake below ambient under bonnet temperature.

But running on gas it won't do anything because the gas system isn't reliant upon most of the sensors in the engine like petrol is. And LPG is a lot colder than petrol too so keeping the intake charge cooler is pointless.

I do occasionally switch it to fuel though, But even still, there's no real point in doing anything to it..

    Thanks for your help.
