hey, iv got a vy s2 3.8 exec with 110k's on it.
wheneva i give it the boot, i smell this wierd burning smell... inside and out... i get the feeling its my trans but i aint 100%. its been getting stronger ova the last 2 months, i was hoping it would go away, but i didn't
any one got any ideas on what it could be/possible fix's?
btw. is due for service, if that helps or not?
sorry to tell you this i had that on my vp just before the trans shat itself
smells like clutch burning kinda?
S@%t..... yea, kinda smells like that...
i bloody hope not... but.. out of curisity, how much for a new one? anyone know?
off the top of my head i think its the 4L60E, which for a reco one would set you back about $1500 then up from there with options, hi-stalls, faster servo's etc
take it for its service and see if anything is said about the condition of the oil, unless you trust your mechanic i wouldnt say anything about it when you take it in. Get a full serivce done on the gearbox, get it flushed and see if that makes a difference. Could be old oil. but usually when the damage is already done changing the oil is only a quick fix. Im talking months here
yea, its 4L60E.
bugger... so expensive....
ill book it in for a service asap.
any ideas on service price?
could it be leaking trans fluid or a stuffed gasket, i was getting the same but it ended up being a leak in the power steering onto the exhaust
well thats promising news! ill grab any hope i can atm!
iv also been curious, a friend of mine has a stage 2 shift kit in his vy.
would one of thous help stop this?
buggers knows, i got rid of my last ever auto 36 hours ago NEVER again. did the corvette servo in the vr held gear very well to the point you know thats all it has then it changes gears instead of knowing it had plenty to give but changed gears early
i hate it when that happens.... ur giving it a bit extra, then she changes early and ur stuck with a low rpm, drives me nuts! i want manual, but i didnt wanna pay the axtra costs.
im regretting it now thou.
were u happy with the corvette servo? what exactly was it for?
ill look into it. cheers dude
orthaeeoul whas with your nick took me a god damned minute to get it right, if you come up to perth could have it done for a 6 pack and if u supply the parts
and of course i will teach you how to do it yourself
did you notice when you give it a boot and back off it sort of takes a while to change back gears to idol? Im hoping im just being paranoid, maybe a fluid change would help, cause I dont smell burning yet?
