VY dash confusion help please
hey guys i just brought a 2003 VY SS with 19inch ve ssv rims king springs low, and dual 2.5inch cat back exhaust im just wondering did VY SS' come with a digital display of speed? cause ive seen a few kicking round and they dont have the digital speed display
and also it has an aftermarket SS inductions maf what does this mean? if it means anything at all
any help with this would be greatly appreciated

gotta enable police mode to get the digital speedo, holden dealer should be able to do it for ya mate
oh ok so my vy could be an ex police car? cause the digital speedo is already enabled

it has a speed alert as well than what kind of digital speedo is it, like is it located in the normal menu, and the the SS induction MAF never heard of it lol
yea its located in the normal menu, honestly im not sure if its a MAF or not its just past the air box in the piping heading to the front of the engine you know the metal square part in the piping? (sorry for the bad description) its got ss inductions engraved into it

if its in the normal menu usually speed alert gets disabled lol now you have opened up a whole new page lol anyway i seriously have no idea about the MAF maybe try the LS1 forums if u dont hear anything from hear sorry i cant be of anymore help mate

I have the same query, I dont have the digital readout in my menus so I just leave it on range of tank, but if I go to Holden can they unhide my digital speedo readout also?
Mates VZ SS has it but my HSV doesent. Does that mean his has been unhidden also?

Ive seen mafs with that engraved on them, it possibly a power upgrade you got there.

My SV6 has the digital speedo, but is not a ex police car cause it has the previous purchasers name & private address, im the second owner.
This might help, even though its only for base commodores:

the SS induction MAF sensor you have there is a slightly larger item than standard and insteaf of having a grilll which can block the air passage it is simply two wires going thorugh the middle of it, which measure air flow. Google it.
As for the digital speedo, you can get them enabled on any Vy/Vz by holden but doing so you will lose your speed alert function.
you can get a small digital speedo on the dash without having holden enable it for you by pressing and hold MODE & SET while you start the car.

OK - here's the definitive answer.
VZs ALL have the large font digital speedo as standard. VYs DON'T have it unless "police mode" has been enabled - where you score the large font digi speedo, but you lose the "Speed Alert" warning.
There is the smaller font digi speedo available in the extended menu as sp001in has pointed out above.
That's it guys - end of story!

on a VY you'll loose the speed alert (not sure if it's different for the SS). no biggie really cause you'll have the digital display. had mine done when Phreddy was on his road trip last month.

Can the police mode be written up as a DIY project so we dont have to go to the Holden dealer to do it?

Dead give away of an ex police car is the silver stock rims. Instead of black ones for normal cars....

Too easy to swap over rims in 20mins. So buying a car with silver pursuit rims isn't a defining feature for thinking it is an ex police car.
